Leave it to someone on FB to put the most graphic picture up they could find.
We had a family friend loose her high school stand out son to a one vehicle accident and some asshat posted the awful pictures before the older sisters' and brother could be notified. My SIL was one of them that did that. My daughter is best friend's with one of the sisters and had to ask her to take it down. The family didn't need to see that so soon.m Stepping off my soap box now.

There was a terrible wreck in Lake Village several weeks ago; the young woman was killed when she crossed the highway and hit an 18 wheeler head on. She was on the phone with her mother and was late for her daughter's year end school awards. Her mother told the police that the girl had just told her she was doing 110 mph---and then the wreck happened. . . . It was on FB within minutes almost---very graphic, showing the body literally in pieces. I don't FB, so I didn't see it and wouldn't want to. But to think that today's society has no consideration for what they put out there and how it will effect families, children especially, is beyond me.

Many prayers for the woman's family and friends (in the original post). Probably just me, but I wish they could also add on charges of some kind for the poor horse. . . .

This is tragic in so many ways.  Yes the commercial driver should be charged and was responsible for causing the accident.  But despite that, it's tragic that he most likely did not wake up that morning and think to himself that he was going to kill somebody.  People don't take time to consider just how many people will be affected by their choices.  A family lost their loved one, and the person responsible has family that will also be paying a price.

Prayers to them all.

We had friend who was stopped at a wreck a couple of weeks ago. He was pulling a portable corral that you haul your horse in the front of. A semi hit him and rolled the corral 3 times. It threw his horse out and injured it badly. They do think it will recover, in time.
This may have nothing to do with either accident, but people need to put their phones down when they are driving and not pick them up again till they are where they are going. We drove for years without being in constant contact. Yes we had accidents, but every time we go town now we see people driving crazy because they are looking at their darn phone. I want a paint gun because every time I see some one texting and driving I want to shoot their window.

If you type her name in to face book it will bring up alot of info and posts. She was 65,  a break away roper, her and her horse "Angel" were very well known and loved in Idaho circles. So incredably sad.

The other photo shows how much room he had to swerve right onto the shoulder and only take out a barbed wire fence.  Why would you swerve INTO traffic?  I know those rigs are big and harder to control and we are all human but MAN....

The only thing I could think of is he traveled that highway a lot and where he was is usually 2 lanes going in the same direction...People react and don't have time to think what they are going to do.

Continued prayers...

This is so terribly sad. It really bothers me. There was a picture of her roping on Facebook. Just below that picture was another post of a wreck near me where an 18 wheeler hit a trailer and killed one horse and injured another. They were on their way to Marshall Tx to the barrel race. Fortunately all the people were OK. It the horse belong to a young girl and she is devastated. It happened yesterday. The only thing I can say is be aware of your surroundings and be watchful of what is happening way in front of you.

Here is Shirley and Her Horse. I smiled when I saw this picture. She looks so determined.
It's nice to put a face with the name.

Shirley was a friend of mine. Roped with her many times. This has hit our roping community very hard. Great lady, always had a smile for you. She will be missed. Be careful out there...too many wrecks and close calls this summer.

So sad and such a senseless loss, I knew of a lady that was killed when hit by a TractorTrailer truck while riding her horse, She and her horse were killed on the spot, was a horrible horrible thing to happen.. It was two Tractor Trailer trucks going down the road one started to blowing his horn at her for the heck of it spooked her horse she lost control of it had no where to go because of a fence and the horse took off and ran in front of the second truck.

I hope the first truck was held responsible for being a jack wagon.....

Did you know in Europe that horses and riders have more right to the road than cars? That cars are supposed to pass with a certian amount of feet between the rider and horse? They have a set speed in which to pass. They have to yield right of way to riders. That if the cars don't abide by the rules the riders can call them in and they'll be held responsible for reckless driving/endangerment?  I wonder what Texas law has to say about rights to the road for horses and riders?

Just so sad that theres no respect for riders and here in Texas its pretty bad. I dont think riders have any rights, but since I've gotton older I dont ride on any roads are highways, just not worth the risk.. Many prayers for the lady that you posted about just so senseless for accidents like these.

You are right, Roxie. I have almost been run over deliberately by a car in our neighborhood and have had oil field and GRAIN trucks (of all people!) honk and/or rev their engines as I am riding down a FM road. I only ride on the caliche and dirt roads dividing the farmer's fields anymore. I even had a helicopter dive bomb me once. I got so mad, I threw my horse in a stall, got in my truck chased him for awhile and called the Boll Weevle (?) office to report him. Come to find out, we rodeoed together in college. Didn't bother me a bit when they let him go.
