We will be traveling to Montana, S. & N. Dakota and Wyoming in late July.   For you who live there, what are your "must see's"?

I'm planning a 4-hour trail ride on the Cody Ranch in Cody Wyoming so far, any advice would be much appreciated!

Hope to get thru some of Yellowstone in one day, then on to Montana.  Where are the best parts of Montana?

Many thanks!

Glacier National Park and the Going to the Sun road is super pretty if you will be coming that far north. I'll probably think of more tomorrow as I'm super tired tonight and can't think of ANYTHING, LOL.

DEADWOOD: The Days of 76 Museum is very cool if you're interested in rodeo and western history. The Deadwood Social Club (right above Saloon #10) is a great place for supper, and Lee St. Station Cafe has awesome breakfast. Mustang Sally's for late night drunk food if you guys are planning to party! The Days of 76 Rodeo is July 25-29. It's a great rodeo - they've won the PRCA's (I think Medium Size) Rodeo of the Year for years and years and years now. They reenact the shooting of Wild Bill in the arena and also usually do a stagecoach robbery.

Drive through Spearfish Canyon - it's absolutely beautiful. Lots of spots to stop and pull over for pictures or if you want to hike a little. I'm not terribly familiar with horse trails in there.

RAPID CITY: The Journey Museum is a pretty neat place - lots of rodeo and western history there as well. If you're picking one museum though, I'd do the Days of 76 one. There are a handful of breweries if you guys are in to craft beer. If you're staying overnight, check out the Alex Johnson downtown - it's allegedly haunted! Downtown has a lot of neat little shops and boutiques. Prairie Edge is a really cool place to walk through. They have a ton of Lakota art and other items. If you're around for brunch try Talley's Silver Spoon, right across from the Alex Johnson. O.M.G. If you're in the market for a new hat, Star of the West is right off the interstate at the Haines exit. Brad does a killer job. Check out their Chamber of Commerce and downtown websites. They'll often have outdoor concerts downtown during the summer. Oh and the art alley! There is an alley downtown where the property owners have given permission for local artists to do their thing on all the walls. It's pretty cool to take a walk through. I'm not sure if Landstrom's Black Hills Gold still offers public tours, but if they do that's a pretty cool thing to see as well.

South of Rapid is Hill City. If you like wine, stop down to Prairie Berry for wine tasting and lunch.

If you go east from Rapid, you'll come to Wall. Check out Wall Drug - it's definitely a tourist trap but one of those things everyone should do once! From Wall, you can drive through the Badlands. I would make a point of hitting the Badlands. It's a beautiful drive - very different than Spearfish Canyon. Really very different than anywhere else in SD. Lots of places to get out and stretch your legs and take pictures.

Medora is western ND is a great place to visit, nothing really on the east side of ND.

I also second Deadwood in SD. Super fun place and the days of '76 is a good time to be there.

Battle of Little Big Horn was amazing. Mt. Rushmore of course! Devil's Tower is truly breath taking.

Teddy Roosevelt National Park in North Dakota. I know they have some horse trails and the scenery is STUNNING. You can't go wrong anywhere in the black hills or yellowstone either.
