Professionals Choice has a new type that have the gel packs within a boot that velcros on. You just put the whole thing in the freezer.

Ice Vibes are also good.

All you need is less than 30 minutes of coldness ..

Get you a knee high trash can .. fill it with ice and water ..

Lift leg and place in trash can ..
(they will stand quietly in the trash can)

take leg out after 30 minutes ..

COSTS: ZERO for big tray of ice or $1 for half a bag of ice

All you are doing is creating maximum blood flow for healing//inflammation
purposes ... not trying to create frost bite ..

I have a set of the Professional Choice ice boots and they have held up well. Much less annoying than having ice cells you have to remove and put back into a garment each time.

I picked up a set of the hidez compression ice boots.

Thin compression boot with an elastic outside sleeve you fill with ice. Super easy to use and you get the added benefit of compression from the fetlock to the hock.

I LOVE the Tough One boots I got from Horse.com!  Cheaper and they are just  quilted nylon with gel cells that you don't remove- take them off and throw them in the freezer and you are good to go!  They work awesome!

I love my Hidez ice compression socks! I bought a set of cheap measuring cups from Wal-Mart that are kind of narrow at one end so they make an easy ice scoop to fill the socks. Best $1.64 I've spent in a while!
