| My good horse fractured her pelvis last fall.. 6 months stall rest... Fast forward 8 months I started riding her very lightly. She was sound going into it but had some muscle inflammation around her Si and pelvis. Now 10 months. I rode her for 2 months and she got a very sore after a trailer ride on some bumpy roads. Since then I laid her off for 3 weeks and today had a vet exam. She now has Si arthritis. Her Si has some instability on the left side that the original pelvic fracture injury occurred. All the muscle inflammation has subsided but she is incredibly sore from both external and internal (rectal) palpation. On an ultrasound you can see the SI joint has changes. I now have to give 6 months of rest in a paddock. Then reevaluate in January. At thats time we may re inject her si. What has everyone done for SI arthritis? Shockwave, magna wave, si injection, acupuncture, special stretching, chiropractic....? I'm asking both for healing and management. I plan on doing chiropractic while she has off. But any other suggestions would be great to hear. Also what was your horses prognosis? Chance of returning to work? Long term? She is a very nicely horse... 1d and circuit finals qualifier. So I am heart broken because I've raised and trained her and she is only 11. My heart sank today when I got word her chances of come back is guarded. We won't know until I start riding again.

Location: Wonderful Wyoming | Same exact story pretty much here. Diagnosed after he had healed as a 5 yr old. He was given 18 months off and still had soreness. He is now a pasture pet. |

| My guy did not fracture is SI (that we know of), but did have an injury that caused thickening of the bone over his his left tuber sacrale and is arthritic. His muscling is uneven but he moves fairly evenly. He has regular chiropractic and acupuncture. He also did have laser therapy when it first happened. I am riding him, but only lightly. He has a lot of other problems (pssm 2, navicular, mild arthritis in his hocks and stifles) so is limited from that as well.

Your poor horse sounds like hes gone through a lot. Thanks for sharing your story. |

| He sure has! Last couple years have been a nightmare! He had lyme disease on top of that too. I probably would have retired him, but he is one of those horses that throws a fit in the pasture if she sees the other horses getting ridden and he doesn't go, so we just lightly trail ride. Plus he is more comfortable when he is worked regularly, if I don't get him out at least every other day he gets muscle sore. As long as he is happy and comfortable we will keep it up. |

| We sold a TB who had fractured his pelvis years earlier to a three day eventer-dressage, stadium jumping and cross country jumping. He made a very nice one. If you stood behind him one side of his back end was higher than they other as well as one of the point of hip ( can't remember name) was higher than the other. |
