Never heard of this brand of store until yesterday and I've been happily putting everything I want in my online shopping cart, not like I have the money for it all but it's fun lol. Anyway, who has heard good or bad things about this place and does anyone know why they don't sell 15" barrel saddles. Lucky for me they have a 15" cutting saddle that I'm drooling over.

South Texas Tack is located in Brenham, Texas. I used to make a monthly visit there for some retail therapy until I moved. I've never purchased from them online, but a lot of their leather goods are very nice and they have quite the selection of tack. I love their split reins. I think their saddles are nice but a wee bit pricey.

I live about 30 minutes from there but I don't go often, it seems anytime I have compared prices they are high.  That said, they do a great business and it is very popular, good reputation.

I bought my fiancΓ© a ranch cutter from STT for Christmas last year. He is rough on saddles. He day works 6 days a week, at least four of those he has to rope something. He also ranch rodeos. All of which he does out of his STT saddle and it has held up great!! We love that store!

Higher priced median quality tack.
They use the same makers as everyone else but are so much more expensive... Like $1k more expensive than everyone else on each of their saddles...

I didn't feel like his saddle was any more expensive than anywhere I priced them. It came down to STT and Jeff Smith. They were within a few hundred dollars- definitely not a thousand difference. They o my huge price difference I found was between anything and a corriente. The problem with corriente and what we do for a living is the trees. They don't hold up whatsoever. Either they completely break, or the they jerk the horn out of them within a month of buying them new. I don't buy clothes or anything else from them because they are outrageous, but speaking from firsthand experience they are awesome to work with on their saddles and a lot of guys that use their saddles hard around here believe in them! I know I've certainly gotten my money's worth out of Ricky's!! I know nothing about their barrel saddles because I'm a horrible double J hoarder!! I enjoy riding his ranch cutter around when I get the opportunity though!! It's very seldom that he's not gone with it, but when it's here- I'll swipe it quick!!

I have one of their barrel racing saddles. I really like it. The leather and workmanship is good quality. I didn't think the price was bad. $1300 brand new. I put them at similar quality and price to that of billy cooks. What I liked is that I could go there with my horse and the owner came out and tried different bare trees on her and we went in and picked out a saddle for her. I was able to try it out and he made sure it fit before I bought it. They have great customer service and they are very nice. I bought that saddle 7 years ago and it's still holding up great.

Love this store!!! Mainly because I can find pretty much anything I need for the barn or horses under one roof. I hate having to run around all over the place. The clothes aren't all expensive but they do carry higher end stuff like Johnny Was and Double D Ranch apparel but they are expensive anywhere! Great store!

almost a pun....

their prices were affordable online years ago and they had good coupons around the holidays. seems once they became more well known - their discounts have disappeared. I will look every now and then at their website to see if they have changed their pricing...to no avail
