| I have a question about the registration costs of vehicles in Arizona. I know that if you have a 1 ton pickup there is a requirement to register as a commercial vehicle and pay the associated fees. Does anyone know if you have to apply for a DOT number? Our pickup is used for personal use only and for the towing of a horse trailer and flat bed trailer for hay. Any help would be appreciated. Trying to decide if we need to get rid of our 1 ton pickup if we relocate. |

| No DOT number necessary. Just pay the commercial fee. |

Here is the break down for our 2014 pickup
$588 licensing and registration
$4 commercial fee
$103 weight fee
$64 motor vehicle carrier fee
$767 for 1 year
I also asked about my older car and it will be $215 for a year plus emissions. Hope this is helpful.

| I about died when they gave me the number. In Oregon we pay $86 for 2 years. Insanity. I assume the cost of living or income taxes have to differ or how would people afford to live and drive and eat? Working on not freaking out. |

How is your weight fee so low? Our GVW is 12,300 and she quoted $103 for weight. How do I get on the $7 plan? |

Location: Arizona | We don't have toll roads. If you live on the outskirts of town you don't have to do emissions and emissions is only tested every other year on older vehicles. I think it's 2012 and older.
My 2002 3/4 ton chevy will cost me $46 to renew my tags and $17 for an emissions test. The newer the vehicle the more expensive it is.

I honestly don't know! I'm surprised yours is higher with a truck a few years older... but I'm not complaining! Although I about choked when I got the registration renewal.

| Registration costs in Arizona are related to the value of the vehicle. The older it is, the less it costs to register. If you are residing in Maricopa or Pima county, you will be required to have an emissions test done. You can look on www.servicearizona.com for more information. Once you are registered, you shouldn't have to go to MVD ... everything is done online! |

Maybe your pickup weighs less than ours, at 8,000 the fee is $7.50. Time to pick my sucker up out of the sand and carry on, be thankful I wont ever see snow again!! LOL turn my lemons into lemonade. |
