Anyone seen this? SI was injected for some pain relief and mesotherapy which is a ton of tiny needles not very long, injected just under the skin. Boy I bet he had 40 pokes in each side from wither to loin and part down the side about where the saddle would be. He flexed sound in all joints but had a terrible sore back. He had a chiro/massage first and all the flinching went away. Hoping this will all make him feel better. Bill was around $400 for all so not too bad for vet and chiro.

It is a therapy that they sometimes use for KS. I haven't done it yet. Glad you had a good response from it!

Heck yeah I've seen it! It's pretty cool. We don't do it often but have the equipment here to do it if we have a good candidate for it.

Do they always have to sedate for it? He was already for the SI injection so wasn't sure how they would handle it awake. That was A LOT of pokes! Is it something that would be good to have repeated before I have him under saddle again? My plan is to send him off for a tune up  for 2 weeks/30 days in Feb. He will have had 10 months off by then and I don't want him getting froggy with me.  I do plan to have a chiro/massage done to him again beforehand. Give him all the benefits I can.

He's such a big ole boy, it's a wonder he didn't have even more needles

I would say it depends on the horse and depends on the vet. I would lean towards yes toward sedation but everyone has their own opinions on what they will sedate for and what they wont. Also, it depends on what combo of drugs the vet used and what he thinks you should do before riding. If you are waiting until Feb I would probably do it again before you send off, but again I would ask your vet!

Thanks, I always like to have a plan. This particular vet is all for alternitive therapies, where some think chiro/massage are a waste of time. I have $3500 into this fella so far in vet bills and the funny thing is, if i had just let him sit and heal for a time, then had a chiro/massage done I would be about where I am now. But at least I know what is going on and have had him checked out by some great vets.

I did Meso in the process of diagnosing mine with KS. He responded well the first time but we needed to deal with his kissing spine after that. Mine was sedated for it both times.
