What stallion, in your opinion, is the best return on your stud/breeding fees? With sales as a yearling/2 yr old? My vote is A Smooth Guy, and thinking French Streaktovegas too. What do you think?

It all depends on the mare. You can breed a junk mare to DTF and not make back your stud fee. Or a very nice mare to DTF and 4x your stud fee.

Mare Power is important for ROI. But any stud, with a nice mare that can do at least 4x stud fee fairly regularly is doing pretty well IMO.

Agree on marepower- I guess assumption would be that the mare is well bred
(notable race/barrel lines in first generation pedigree
) with good confirmation and pretty, but unproven herself.
The 4x the stud fee is a good estmate to go buy tho, thank you!
But then again, back to my original point, it seems that French Streaktovegas and ASG babies are consistently selling for much higher than 4x the stud fee?
