My dad has a heeler/corgi/dalmation/lab mix that is 100% deaf and she knows come, "no", lay down, sit, roll over, turn (both ways) all in sign language. She is a great dog!! The only downside is trying to find her when she's out in the yard since you can't call for her.

Her ears sure are pretty funny considering they're useless!!! lol

I'm loving reading about everyone's awesome deaf dogs! I am head over heels for my new boy Merle. He watches me and stays close so I think that's really going to help with training. I'm so glad we adopted him.

I think we'd all love to a a picture of this lucky guy!!

I'm not help to here but we had 1 litter from our dachshunds (1 dapple bred with 1 red) and we had a double dapple in our 4 pup litter. We were shocked to see one because me and my husband did our research and knew not to breed two dapples together otherwise it could leave to blindness and/or deafness. So I can assure you we were surprised when we saw that white dappled pup!! We ended up snipping our male because we didn't want to chance another double dapple, but that little white dappled pup turned out to be deaf. We called her Deaf-ne, like Daphne lol. She was the sweetest thing and we decided to keep her because we didn't mind training a deaf dog. We also put a cat collar on her once she got big enough to wear one and that helped us know where she was. Her life was cut short though... My husband's old heeler cross was a jealous dog and I don't know what happened exactly but that heeler ended up attacking the puppy and she sadly died from her injuries. The heeler died from a bullet. So just a heads up, please be careful with your new little one of you have a jealous or slightly aggressive dog around.
