i have a 4 yr old gelding. He is a bit of a turd at times (could be his momma's influence too), but i love him and would have another. He has a great personality, is smart and gentle enough.  Many have speed to burn. My gelding is not running bred on his mare's side, so he has probably not got as much speed as many of his siblings.  FFrost has many (local to me) 1D winners. If you get one, odds are good that you will have a winner.

I edited this to say that even though he is 4, I have not started "running" him yet. He is well started and loping a really nice pattern. I spend most of my time on him just exhibitioning/seasoning - he has baby issues like getting scared in a crowded warm up pen, being a little looky out in the pasture, etc. He is more relaxed & focused in the arena than anywhere else.

He is somewhat of a local legend in my area.  Has a lot of winners out there.  As a side note, he is positive for GBED. If you are going to breed a mare to him, have your mare tested.

He might be a carrier of GBED not positive for it. If he was positive he would be dead as no positives live. Big difference. If mare is negative no big deal. If she too is a carrier it's a 25% chance of a dead colt or aborted. Educate yourself if you are breeding mares.

OK, just quoting AQHA rep. Thanks for the clarification.
