Location: Oklahoma | I'm not running barrels right now. Trying to think of something different to do with hubby. He hunts and works, and I work and ride. That is all we know and we have no kids in the house. It is just us! So why is it so hard to figure out where to go or do something different! I am in Oklahoma Henryetta area. I would love to go to a treehouse with huge tub or a spa with massages and so forth , but it is really high! and as I am looking at places I realize why we don't do much lol. How do you get package deals? Hubby wont go far and cant be more than 2-3 days so has to be a few hours of me. So does anyone know for around my area where would be a great getaway weekend? I am scared of heights but I would love to try zip line. Hubby says he game for that too. So any suggestions??? thanks |

| There are so many things to do in TX. I have several friends who do offshore fishing with their wives. Places will pack the fish to travel so you can bring it home with you. My friends have their own boats but I am sure you can rent them as well. There are many state parks that are heaven. Some stock creeks with trout for cool weather fishing and the camping is nice. Some have cabins some don't. The state parks in the Hill Country are near enough to wonderful places to visit. Like San Antonio, Austin, New Braunfels, Luckenbach, Fredericksburg. San Antonio. If you do not want to go to state parks, San Antonio, Fredericksburg have something going on every weekend |

| You sound exactly like me and my husband. I am in the Stillwater, OK area and we couldn't afford to go anywhere far this summer or be away for too long so we went to Tahlequah. We did a lot of kayaking and fishing but each resort is slightly different. It was a good little 3 day get away. |

You haven't been eating the right kind of fish! If you don't like bony fish there are fish fillets. If you don't like fried fish there are plenty of ways to eat them besides frying. Salt water fish are the bomb anyway. I am not too big on bony fish or fried and there are so many other ways to fix them that are better.

Check out Eureka Springs AR. Quaint little town, close to Branson---been awhile since we've been there but it's great for short get a ways. Cinnamon Valley Resort was really nice. . . Hope y'all have a ball wherever you go!

They also have horse racing from January through April at Oak Lawn in Hot Springs. |

I seen that they have treehouses you can stay in there! my friend stayed in one it had a huge tub in it and I think you could have a camp fire underneath it!
Since the holidays right around the corner I'm thinking treehouse getaway, and not worry bout doing anything just drive around or hangout at the tree and go to a nice dinner around there. Hopfully sometime in Jan maybe and then for our anniversary in March do something big and a few days longer and that will give me more time to think and look.
My mom is going to Branson this weekend on listening to an 1 1/2 hr long presentation for exchange of really cheap hotel and discounts. I will see how that deal turns out! lol I think it is bout time shares. Has anyone done something like this? Is it worth it. She already warned them that she is not buying anything they told her no big deal but Im sure they wont leave you alone. |

I've know several people that took the tradeoff of listening to the presentation for free/discounted motel and/or food or shows. My ex in-laws did it years ago and had the whole family come stay in the condo for the weekend of the presentation!
The time of year you are thinking of going may also be good for an off-season rate. I've stayed at Cinnamon Valley several times in the cabins, and it was really really nice. This is weird I know, but I swear they had the best smelling sheets I've ever slept on  |

I haven't stayed there (I only live 45 minutes away), but I've been to Oaklawn Racing Park numerous times. They also have a casino now. Bathhouse Row is supposed to be great. I've always loved Mid-America Science Museum, and they have a theme park called Magic Springs that is pretty cool. My favorite place to eat there hands-down is Fat Jacks. It's a cajun food place with a restaurant downstairs and a bar upstairs.
