Ok if your horse falls in a run and you pull up and lope the rest does the PRCA/WPRA fine you? In this case the girls that had trouble in Round 4, were they fined. Somebody brought up the subject and now I’m curious.

I think it's up to the officials.  But I'm not sure.

I have pulled up at the pro rodeos and never been fined. I think as long as you don’t deliberately hold up the show they are OK with it. I did however get a $100 fine at a college rodeo once because my horse fell completely down behind the first barrel and I walked him out of the pen and didn’t complete my run?! They called it bad sportsmanship! NOPE, horse conservation and preservation was more my angle! My rodeo coach ended up fighting it and getting it dropped.

I think the only thing it could fall under would be not making an honest effort.... however i cannot imagine any judge fining you for pulling up after your horse falls.

Good for your coach! Good grief, the judges must have been ex roughies.

That is crazy.   Taylor Jacob  posted that she chose to pull up and take the fine during one of her last runs at the NFR because she said Bo had another bad stumble.   He had slipped on every run and she was tired of battling the ground and going  to take care of her horse.

College rodeo can be pretty stupid. I missed a rodeo in Ft Collins because the roads were closed to light trailers due to high winds. I got a fine. I tried to fight it to no avail. It was my last rodeo and my coach was pretty worthless to help out too.
