Yep. They can't brace on it. It's not a heavy "whoah put your brakes on" bit. If your horse isn't broke with good hip control, able to spin etc, you're probably not going to like it. Watch a bunch of Charmayne videos online and watch how she handles her horses, and see if your horse is similar.

I find it works best on a very thin lipped horse one that is super sensitive and needs minimal aids from the bit.
