A year ago I had my horse on Nutrena Safe Choice...she stomped, bit and kicked out while being saddled. I thought it was just "her". Had an equine osteopath out, she told me she probably had ulcers, and to change her feed to Cavalor, a very expensive European feed. Within 12 days her problems were completely gone. NOW...I can't get the feed anymore, plus it had no fat, never did like that part...SO, I switched to Bluebonnet Intensify Total Advantage plus alfalfa 2x/day plus all the coastal she can eat. Within 2 weeks...very unhappy when saddling at trailer again. No sign of ulcers in terms of her barrel runs...SO WHAT CAN I FEED HER?? That I can get in East TX...she is NOT an easy keeper. Sorry so long, please advise!!

Roasted to Perfection, maybe? It is supposed to be made in a clean mill and I spoke in length with the owner of the company about her feed. Might look into it. Not saying its the answer, but you could talk with her as I did and maybe that will help.

Have you tried Renew Gold, most any TSC can keep it in stock for you if you ask.

Muenster Milling Sr. It is a extruded feed. Has 8% fat . Very easy to
Digest. And you can get it in East Texas

Have you tried treating the ulcers? She may need to stay on some sort of a preventative once they are healed. My horses are on 2.5 lbs of Tribute Kalm n EZ and its top dressed with 1 cup of the purina outlast, they also have access to unlimited hay. They have no ulcers and show no signs either, and they clean it right up. I did go through a bucket of the DAC cool gut with my one horse when he had bad ulcers, and they healed them right up. He's been fine ever since.

I quit feeding processed grains because of ulcers, I was also feeding safe choice.  For the last few years I have fed   Renew Gold, alfalfa and a little Bluebonnet steamed rolled oats just for a little more to be in their bucket to put supplements in, a good vit\min supplement.   I did do a course of treatment for ulcers with my horse but I thought why go back to feeding what aggravates his some stomach.

I have been incredibly happy with Purina Equine Senior Active.   I've got my 23, 16, and 2yo on it.  It was very similar to Purina Ultium Growth, so that's why the 2yo is on it.  Higher fat content than most feeds.

My 16 yo had ulcers and was treated. Haven't had any trouble with him regressing on it.

I went through a lot of different feeds before I found the right combo. What has worked for me is Renew Gold and cleaned oats. The RG is a little pricey for my taste but both mares seem happy on it. I've actually backed down their RG this winter since they aren't being rode, same results.

Whole food and Cur-Ost. Omni Cubes have everything you need...oats, alfalfa and flax.

Renew Gold.

I've been feeding no other concentrate for three years and just add some Science Pure Performance for vitamins/minerals etc. Highest quality grass/alfalfa mix that I can buy.

My almost 21 year old horse is feeling so good he may just come back out on the road with me!
