I have hand sewn tears with heavy duty thread and then put E-6000 glue on it. We get lots of rain in the PNW and I'm on my second winter. Has worked out great.

DUMB question---what kind of glue is that?!!!! It sounds like this may be my best bet for now. Then once the deep freeze leaves us next weekend I can decide my "for real" solution. We have so many blankets I just hated to buy another one right now. Having said that, he WILL get what he needs regardless---these are my babies after all

Thank everyone for taking time to answer me!

It’s craft glue. Hobby lobby has it!! I’ve fixed more leg and belly straps with hay string than I care to admit!!! My leg straps always seem to pull off at the blanket! Soooo- I poke a hole in the blanket and one in the strap and loop a few circles of hay strong through it! TAADAAA- nailed it!!

I just spent 45 minutes on the floor wrestling with his big ole blanket and needles and fishing line, along with Luca (Siberian Husky who thinks anything "horse" is an aphrodisiac--whole other story!!)----and I have accomplished getting the strap back in one piece

I'll get some of the glue and seal it up, after which I will report to y'all how long it lasts! Until then he's wearing his mini skirt blanket

He does have the long legs that a mini skirt requires . . .

When the weather gets better, if you have a shoe repair shop in the area, wash the blanket and take it to them to sew the strap back on .....

Miss Norma, our area is so downtrodden I'm not sure we even have one anymore! Used to be one in MS, about 45 minutes away, but I think it went out of business. . . . I'm taking notes on all the ideas y'all have given me and will figure out what to do after this week. I know I'm gonna order some repair kits for the rips and take care of those on the blankets that have that issue. I may end up donating them to some less fortunate horses in our area since we have some extra blankets now. Breaks my heart to see some of the horses around here with no cover and minimum to no hay.

Ace has decided that shredding everybodies blankets is his current job. So far I’ve repaired 2 and replaced 3. I can’t afford this horses antics! So he’s found himself in solitary confinement because that’s the only way I can delegate him. My sister’s sewing skills and waterproof patches have been my best friends! I just ordered 2 more blankets from Schneider’s Tack to replace the repaired ones. When it thawed out I’ll get pics of the blanket that was on my mother’s Arabian that he SHREDDED! Ugh.

But yes, probably much cheaper to just replace them right now with all the sales going on!

So far no one is purposely tearing anyone else's thank goodness! Ace is full of himself
