Extreme Veteran Posts: 387	does anyone have any tips? I love the looks of chocolate/ really dark leather saddles. I can wait 10-12 weeks to custom order one, or I can buy the exact same saddle now but in natural color roughout. is there a way to darken to saddle without ruining the saddle or my pants? or am I best to just wait??

I have tryed to darking a few saddles in my time and they hardly ever come out the color that I had in mind. They would darken up but not how I had picture them ,lol. So to me it would be better to order what you want.

Elite Veteran Posts: 889 Location: on the fine line between insanity and geniusness	I use olive oil on all of my saddles. It will darken them SOME, but I don’t think you will get the color you are wanting. I’d just order what you want and wait!

Elite Veteran Posts: 883 Location: Southern Indiana	A few coats of neatsfoot will darken the saddle a couple shades but trust me I’ve tried to darken a chestnut roughout and it got a few shades darker and looked pretty but you will just never get it to a dark chocolate. Order the darker one. You’ll be much happier.
