Does anyone on here use a Fitbit Ionic for tracking their rides? I recently upgraded to the Ionic as I really liked the idea of have GPS track my rides. On my previous Fitbit, I would just start a general workout and then change it to horseback riding after the workout was done in the app. It seems like with the Ionic if I use the general workout function, it won't enable the GPS. So then I got the bright idea to start the ride using something like the biking function that does use GPS and switching it after the ride, kind of like I had before. But nope, if you pick a specific type of workout from the beginning, you can't change the type of workout at the end. You can only change it if you started with a general workout. Any ideas??

I'm not familiar with the Ionic.  But I would just call them. They have good customer service.

Keeping this bumped up as I’m curious as well. I currently use map my run on my phone to track but I’ve considered a Fitbit for other reasons and if I could track rides that would be great! I use the map my run to track miles so I know I’m putting in a consistent ride, loping or long trotting for the right distance etc. otherwise I get ADD and think I’ve been out riding longer than I have been.

I just use equitrack for my rides. I've had it for years and love it. I think it is only available for iphones.

I just got the blaze and I love it, they also have a newer one, but I also use an app on my phone called “Endomondo” it’s an under armor app that tracks horseback riding as well and has gps on it unlike the watches.

If I only have my watch on I just track my exercise with hitting the “workout” session and it times is and does the steps and calories, obviously the heart rate as well - which will really tell you in the fit bit app how hard you’ve worked.

Yeah, I have the newer Ionic which they advertise as having GPS. They don't clearly advertise that it is only for a few selected sports. I am just logging my rides as bike rides right now so I can have the GPS map of what I did, but then I have no options to change it from biking to horseback riding. Luckily, I feel like the calories burned is pretty comparable to if I used the workout session. If I use the workout session there is no option for GPS. Definitely not what I paid for

Call their customer service line. There may be an option to record a horseback riding workout via GPS. If not, ask them about the advertised GPS function and kindly tell them that you didn't pay for GPSA every now and then, you assumed per their advertisement that GPS was for every workout and see what they suggest.  Maybe they have a solution for you! :) Good luck. Well, I talked to their customer service and what I want is a no go. I can either A. use "workout" which Fitbit assumes is something inside so no GPS (but I can change it to horseback riding after the workout is done so....) or B. use something like bike mode which uses GPS but I can't change the name of it after to horseback riding.

I am pretty disappointed in their product as they only have about 20 workout types to choose from and only a few of those use GPS and if you want to do a general workout for something not covered (horseback riding, kayaking, everything I do lol), there is no GPS option. Why put GPS in a product when you can only use it part of the time??? Rant over.....
