We are in desperate need of a new bed, but there are so many choices out there.  Does anybody care to share what mattress they love or have had good luck with?

We just went and bought a new mattress and put our memory foam topper on it. It’s a Serta I think. It’s a cheaper mattress but waaaaaay better than our old one. No more sore bodies in the morning and we’re both sleeping soundly again.

I have a sleep number knock off and I love it. It has a latex foam topper (better than memory foam imo) and I like that I can adjust it softer or firmer.

The guys at work were talking about some cheaper mattress they got at Walmart or somewhere, they come all wadded up in a box and they "pop" to size - I guess they are really comfortable and around $200! (Wish I had caught the name)!

We were at a friend's house a couple years ago and we were lamenting about how hard it was to find a GOOD mattress. They said, you have to try ours! After we got over the awkwardness, we did try theirs and it was amazing! Supportive, but cloudy at the same time! It was a yogabed. We ordered one and we have never looked back. It was about $850 for a king size, it arrived in a box and you take it out and it jumps up within a minute. It has a 10 year warranty and free replacement. And when we bought there was a free 365 day trial with free returns. We love it. We brag on it all the time and 2 more of our neighbors have ordered one as well after trying ours. They love theirs as well!

www.yogabed.com

If I had to compare their feel to another bed, I'd compare it to Temperpedic, but those cost about $4,000.00. Ours was $850 and came with pillows also.

Β

Did you have to buy their base for the bed or can a regular box spring be used?

Nope. You could, but regular box spring is perfectly fine. We have regular box spring with ours, as do our friends and neighbors.

We went through 3 mattresses in 1 year. We tried a Denver Mattress memory foam, The Leesa and some other weird brand. FINALLY, we settled on a Simmons Beautyrest Platinum Hybrid. You can check it out on their website!

I had the serta memory foam from sams club that was pretty good, but I was surprised at how long it took to get used to it and how quickly it broke down (it was a $400 mattress that came in a box) but didn't last a year.
We finally bit the bullet and bought a sleep number and so far I'm pretty happy with it- I sleep for at least 3 hrs straigth each night, but I do wake up with shoulder or hands asleep, but I think it's because I either have my hands curled under my face or clenching a pillow.  Any tips for proper sleep position??  Not being able to sleep is AWFUL!

Very much depends on how you like to sleep!  Do you LOVE going to a hotel?  Do you like soft and squishy?  Does your SO like hard as a rock?
Medium-firm is what we went with because most hotels use that stiffness.  If you and your SO are different types, you might want a sleep number or something along that line.
Obviously the more you spend the better the quality, but there are some decent ones for reasonable.  I think ours is a Sealy.

I just bought one of these for my horse trailer! I got it on Amazon. Zinus Memory Foam. I got the 12" queen and it was around $180 shipped. I even slept on it in the living room to test it out. I really like it! We have a tempurpedic in our bedroom and I slept just as good on this new one.

YES! This is exactly what my husband and I purchased and we love it! We put just the 12" memory foam on pallets with our pallet headboard and it is super cute too!

We did a memory foam about 6 months ago. I had put one of the cheap memory foams in my trailer an slept well on that. Although hard to tell because I am usually exhausted when I hit the mattress at a show.
But anyways I injured my shoulder a few years ago and when I would sleep on that side I would wake up in pain. The memory foam was just too firm for that shoulder, any other sleep position and I loved it. Well I had a 4" memory foam topper on our old mattress to get us through that I had not done anything with. I put that on top and it was heaven. Most reviews say memory foams are pretty firm. Just something to keep in mind when shopping. I think ours is a bear brand. around $700. still holding up well 6 months in.

I had a memory foam mattress topper one time.  I called it the concrete sponge.   Gave it away.

We bought a Snugglepedic--it was all "deflated" in a box and popped up when we opened it! It is both soft but very supportive if that makes sense. It's been night and day between it and the old mattress. Mattress and the topper were around 1100. If I keep this one as long as the last one, I'll definitely get my money's worth. (I think it was 18 years old!)

Actually I don’t believe your “obvious” assertion holds any truth. Mattress stores have a huge markup on junk, which is why the independent makers shipping direct to consumer have gained popularity in recent years.  There are several of them making high quality products for way less than you would pay in a store and their return policies are outstanding. Mattress Underground is a good place to read up. You’ll get an idea of which company might work best for your preferences.
