I am looking into building a water exercise type facility....But, I really don't know where to start. So, I need some input on what do you all feel is the best exercise. It will need to be able to be in an inside facility beings I live where it gets cold in the winter...
Pros and Cons on all options....would love to hear from someone that runs/owns a facitlity like this of their own.
Give me some info...Thanks!

Aquatred! I think it is the safest. The only thing I dont like about about swimming is they are in such an undesired
position. Almost like they are strung out with their Head up, back arched, and kicking out... I could see where is it great for leg injuries but for strengthening the back Id rather use an aquatred. An aquatred is also good for leg injuries to though.

I prefer aquatred over swimming. One of my horses had stifle surgery and my vet recommended the aquatred once we reached the point to start exercise/rehab. The vet told me NOT to swim him ever and said it can be detrimental to a horse with stifle issues.
There is always the risk of drowning a horse that can't or won't swim. I have seen a video of an expensive race stallion that rolled over in the water and never attempted to swim. The liability issue is to be considered.
You need several staff members to swim a horse so that is a big added expense.
A pool uses more chemicals because you are treating so much more water.
(another added expense
)
When choosing between an in ground vs above ground unit, you should consider how expensive your water is. Do you have a water well or are you paying per gallon on a community water system?
