The ice compression socks are amazing for icing legs. Knees are a bit tougher but I think if you put the socks up an inch or so higher than "normal," you'd be able to get ice around most of the knee. I have a pair of large fronts that I use on my 15.2 and 15.3 hand horses and can ice knees with those (medium is 15-16 hands, large is 16-17 hands) and my 14 hander can get his knees iced in his small socks (14-15 hands). I think the Hidez socks are way easier to use than any contraption you can rig up at home with ace bandages, saran wrap, vet wrap etc. These actually do stay in place unless they are WAY WAY too big - the 14 hand monster could get mediums to slide down LOL. The resale value is pretty good too, especially if you take care of them.

Love mine and would never be without.
I also bought very large gel ice packs that slide in and wrap around the entire leg.
Icing a knee would be tough with them though -- the ice vibe knee boot might suit this specific need a little better.
