If your legs are getting slightly behind you, or at least it feels like it and maybe it just my legs being straight down, does that mean that your treeless saddle is a size to small?
Idk. I really like my treeless, it's done wonders for my horses back, but I miss how my stirrups felt in my old treed saddle when they were slightly in front of me. Now when I'm loping or even doing a run my feet stay in the stirrups and they are below me, not behind nor in front. But when I'm trotting I just can't get the hang of it. My stirrups are in the perfect position right now; if I raise them up a hole I'm getting too high out of my saddle, and if I lower them a hole then I have no weight in the stirrups; but whenever I post my stirrups just want to get on the heel of my boot instead of staying at the balls of my feet. I've tried different stirrup lengths (which I just mentioned), putting more weight in my heels, making sure I'm not raising myself too much while posting, but I can't figure it out and I can't fix it.
As a background, I used to ride in a 15" treed saddle that I loved but as my horse got wider it was too narrow for him. I had about two (maybe 3?) Fingers in between my thigh and the swell but I felt like maybe I needed something slightly smaller so when I bought this treeless I just bought it as a 15" but my thighs are always touching the swells. Personal preference but I don't like it. Any help?

Chances are that you don't like the feel of the swell on your thigh. Therefore, you compensate by riding on your pelvic bone rather than your tail bone. Forcing your legs into a downward position instead of a forward position as needed. Keeps your thighs off the swells but forces your legs back and down.
I believe if you got a bigger seat you would "want" to sit on your tailbone and in turn that would put your feet where they need to be.

That makes a lot of sense to me!
