Has anyone had the same exact bit in stainless and sweet iron, then tried them on their horse?

Did your horse prefer one material over the other?

I'm going to need a custom bit made for my gelding, and the only two bits he seems happy in are sweet iron. These two are the start to finish and a dutton bit.

I've had him in a no hit and I love the feel of their bits but he prefers no gag and a longer purchase than most bits. The only bit that was close to the start to finish was an L&W bit and those don't seem to work for my hands in any of their styles.

So, I didn't know if horses had a real preference or if it's just how the bits made?

Well I'll just say I have a sweet iron Rosie gag-like bit with a port and most of my barrel horses have done better in it than others. Im wondering if I could get a No Hit Bit in sweet iron because that's what I'm using as my slow work bit and he seems happier mouth wise with the sweet iron. Interesting idea for a comparison though...

They only make bits out of stainless, when I asked. Thanks, I was hoping I didn’t sound crazy
