I have an appt this week to check ovaries as well...she's not cranky under saddle, so I'm guessing it's not painful ovaries or I hope not. Question, do you have to get a culture/swab before caslicks is done? Or could I have my vet do the surgery and find out results later if infection?

You can culture her, have the vet do the caslicks and if she's infected, she can be treated with the caslicks intact. You can even breed a mare with a caslicks (A-I of course). They just need to be opened up before foaling so they don't tear.

Thank you!
