| We have a 6 year old QH gelding that our daughter youth rodeos on. We have had him 2.5 years. Winter 2016 he started biting toward flanks and sometimes would kick out a back leg. Teeth floated, chiro (TMJ out). Suceed test for ulcers was negative. Started him on aloe vera. He continued to do it. Mostly at eating time in the stall. Sometimes a couple times a day, sometimes he would go a week or more without doing it. We feed grass hay at night and round rolled grass hay when the are turned out during the day in the winter. Access to feesh water and salt blocks. Come about May 2017 he stopped and didn't do it all summer. October 2017 it's back. Teeth done again. Started giving sweet potatoes instead of aloe vera. Continued. Treated with 2 months of omeprazole. Continued. On 3/5/18 back to vet for chiro and was told to worm with quest plus and then worm again in 2 weeks. He had the first dose on 3/14/18. The last few days he has been violently doing this. I'll try to attach video. He does it out in pasture or in stall. Poop is good, peeing fine, appetitie is good, rides and competes the same, not cinchy at all. Looking for any input y'all might have. Please no bashing. This horse is well taken care of and I have spoken with our vet (who is amazing) several times. Just curious if anyone else has had similar issues. We swapped him from grain to Omni cubes last night in cause it is a food allergy. |

| have you checked to make sure he's not retaining a testicle? Just a thought...
I know of one called "bucky" a gelding that randomly bucked in the middle of runs, would bite at flanks, and kick but would only do it once in a blue moon. Everyone thought he was spooky and outlaw etc.... He actually placed at Houston but was sold for a rock bottom price bc of his behavior. A few years after new owner has him and is letting someone cowboy on him in feed lots to fix the problem he starts to colic. Apparently he was a cryptorchid and no one knew about the other testicle until they took him to get looked at for colic. He never bucked again once it was removed sadly he never made any good runs either...probably due to the rough way is was treated for his behavior during those early years. |

| Vet said could be parasites so that is ehy we are doing the double duty quest gel. I have yet to see any worms in poop and have mushed some up everyday to look. We had a horse about 4 years ago that came to us with bot infestation and they were all in his poop when we did a power pak worming. But there's nothing we can do beside wait on wormer to work, right? |

| He came to us "gelded" and we mever questioned cause he is laid back and good as gold.most of the time and has never acted studdy even around mares in heat. He too may go weeks without any episodes and then have 5 in one day. We have owed 2 cryptorchids and both it was pretty obvious. Suggestions on how to find out?

Location: Willows, CA | He may have an enterolith that is causing a blockage then moving to clear again. This is exactly what I have seen as symptoms.

HCG test....they inject with a hormone and then pull blood again and test....i think it's read on a snap test but not completely sure. Should be cheap like $40 bucks or so.

aloe won't heal them alone and omeprazole won't help hind gut ulcers, which is what I am guessing. | I would take him off grain which irritates any stomach issues. Add alfalfa to his diet, horses don’t have to have a grain to get their calories and nutrition |

| Have you cleaned his sheath? Could be something that simple. Also, I have found that aloe is not very effective for horses with extreme ulcers. We started a couple of horses on Platinum Performance with GI aide. Seems to be working but need a little more time to decide. |

| I would look up an equine natural care rep and get his hair tested to see what herbs he needs! I have had great success with this route. I’d take him off all grain and let him clear out his gut for a while. Have you tried renew gold or a pre/pro biotic like forco? |

Yes he keeps a dirty sheath so it gets cleaned regular and I have also remived some small beans but didn't seem to make a difference. Thank you though! |
