I've been looking on and off for a "kick around" saddle for schooling and trail riding that is much lighter than my current saddle, and that I won't cry over if it gets scratched or wet. I found a pretty old Martin barrel saddle that fits the bill, except the seat is totally trashed. Has anybody had the seat of a saddle replaced, and how much did it run you? Just want to get an idea if I am going to be paying as much for a new seat as the saddle, which would be a bit silly.

I had one replaced in a use martin saddle I had bought about 8 to 9 years ago it cost me about 125.00 but I used this saddle maker all the time, but I'm sure its gone up after all this time. I know of others that charges around 200 but well worth it if its done right and its a nice saddle.

The rest of the saddle is in good shape, and the tree appears sound which is the most important part. I have no idea what happened to the seat, it looks like it was attacked by a bear!

It's anywhere from $50 -$100 here. Depends on the type of seat wanted.
Teskey's will replace a seat. May call them and ask for pricing.
