| I need to find a new saddle. My mare has big ole shoulders and is fairly round. Everything I have is bridging and rolls on her. Talked with a few saddle makers and they suggest a 40 degree bar, more like a roping saddle. I am going to order one but it's a 3 month wait. Any suggestions on a saddle I can look for in the meantime? I prefer a flatter seat, not the kind with the big rise in front. Thanks! |

Location: Northwest | You might try a wide Stoney. I have a very wide gelding, big shouldered etc. and it fits him great. I never have a rolling problem and I feel that it has a βflatβ seat. |

| I agree, you can't go wrong with Coats. However, they are a more expensive saddle. If you are looking for something more affordable to use while your new one is being built, you might want to try Corriente. I hear the new style barrel saddles they make are great for horses with a thick back. Maybe someone on here who has a new style Corriente can offer some input. |

Location: Not where I should be... | Depending on your seat size, there's a 14.75 Batie tree Lazy L on the Coats Facebook page. Call Larry and see if he thinks it will fit. |

Just my two cents...Daughterβs award Corriente came a month or so ago, and it definitely does not fit my big shouldered, wide horses. |

| My Corriente from roughly 2012 fits my barrel shouldered, low withered mare pretty good. Not sure if theyve changed styles since but if theres an older one kicking around somewhere that might be something to look at |

Location: in the ozone | One of the wider Crown C's will fit a wider shouldered horse too. (or the FX - not sure if the others come in the wider trees or not) |

Agree.
Also second the Double J wide option. |

I have a Pro Max and it doesn't fit her. It slides back and rolls to the side. The 3 saddle makers I've spoke with say she needs a flatter bar with more shoulder relief. |

I've not seen one of those. I'm off to do some research. |
