I’m in the hot, hot southeast and am trying to keep my horses coats and manes from fading so horribly this summer. Anybody have a stellar sheet recommendation for me to check out?

They are running a sale on Horze sets on Chicks Saddlery. I bought one last year and its great. Lightweight but gets the job done. Super cheap, but only comes in blue i believe. The only thing i didn't like was the mask it comes with so I sewed a stocking stuffer a nicer mask to connect to the hood. Love it.

I bought a nice fly / UV sheet last year for my gelding that doesn't do well during the summer, but didn't actually use it.
I'm not home during the day to monitor him, and was afraid he would just be miserably hot and sweaty under it...or am I wrong and the UV fabric would help keep him cool?

The one that has held up longest for me has been a Shire's brand. The one I have is 90% UVB protection and lasted all season last year. My horse is black, full sun, in the midwest and he didn't sweat much under his. He was never sweatier than the ones who were naked. I just ordered one from SmartPak to try for my mare, it doesn't have as good of UVB protection though

The ones I have are a combo UV/fly sheet. I can't remember the brand, but they have "cool" in the name. I have put them on when they have had to stand in outside pens in hot weather and even though it seems they should get hot, they do not. They work really good if you put them on while still wet from a bath and the coolnees seems to hold.

I am near the beach and the only ones I have had that didn't make them sweat more than normal were the mosquito net from ss tack. com BUT it allowed the horse flies to get under and get trapped so I ended up getting rid of it.

Today I put one horse in a Weatherbeeta Airflow Detachaneck and another horse in an Amigo (not sure which one). The Amigo feels a lot lighter weight. The neck on the weatherbeeta isn’t staying up but the Amigo one is so far.....

I haven't found one that doesn't make them hot.  I am with you on finding on that will work to keep flies off, but they won't roast in the hot humid weather where I live.
