Anyone else wanted to just start over and do something completely different with your career, way of life, etc. and or actually done it? I'm talking about with support of spouse, maybe moving, slowing down, something new? Just reflecting on life, the variety of interests I have, all the different ways of making a living, achieving less stress. No major reasons other than "is this what the rest of my life is" .

Anyone done a major upheaval?

I want to get a camper and just run away.  Leave my needy horses, my stresful job, and my spouse behind and just head west.  May be work as waitress here and there.  I might take my dog - may be.
If they all keep pushing my buttons I would not be surprised if this will happen.

Ha, we actually added to our life after 40. We got into the cattle business after the kids grew up. We had always had a small herd of cattle because the kids showed heifers and my brother and dad had cattle on lease land, but when my dad and brother wanted to expand, we jumped in -- and right in to a bad drought, lol!
Now, I have added again by taking care of my grandson rather than him go to daycare.
But now we are in our 50's and slowly talking about down sizing maybe. Just having our registered cattle in case my grandson wants to show and because they are a relaxation thing for my husband and son. I don't think I will be buying anymore horses and my horses are teenagers now.
With my daughter living in Colorado I want to be able to go see her during the summers with my grandson and if she has kids, I want to be able to just pick up and visit.

No but I don’t think it is ever too late to make your life the way you want to live it.

Yes, started a new career at 42. It was scary at first but the best thing I ever did.

wow, where to start!!! In my early 40's my new life started not by choice but due to an ugly ugly UGLY divorce. To make a long story short, I was hit with an unexpected divorced, my father died a few months after the whole ugly divorce started (he was my rock and miss him everyday), got remarried to my soulmate (sounds corny but it is true), moved to my husband's farm, sold my farm, and went from being a total dressage queen to a hard core, loving the life of barrel racing! All I can say is that I found true happiness!!! God knows what He's doing, not matter what age you are! He will put you in your place at the right time

Just do it!!!! I am teaching ag this year for the first time after being a HS baseball coach for the last 20yrs. I have had a blast, and when I retire in a few years I will find another adventure/career to start.

My husband and I have been talking about moving down south at some point. We are tired of winters and would like to have our horses in our yard. Its just sooooo expensive in NJ.

This change probably won't happen until he retires in 8-10 years.

I need that saying tattooed somewhere on me I can see daily^^^^ Been thinking about doing something new in addition to accountant, and maybe this thread is a sign; I keep saying "I'm too old and it's too expensive and what if it doesn't work." Maybe this is my push.
