| We are going to do a carport barn. Its 20X30 with only 2 sides (1 long and 1 short). With the added anchors and what not I think the total before taxes is 3900-ish |

Location: Oklahoma | My fav barn and I have had a few, is the lean to type with overhang. I will never have a closed up barn again! and my horse has resp. problems and this helps! It actually is cooler in summer and warm in the winter. and I was so surprise how much I love!. I have 3 stalls that are open in the front and one stall size room that has a sliding door and that is where I keep Round bale and hay in. I don't like the sliding door when windy tho. I just have 2 horses so I use the two stalls and put runs on them and the third stall is my feed room. The back wall is facing the north. I am really surprise how much my horses just hang in their stalls (they are turned out 24/7)

| I have two car ports. They have panel stalls in them for circulation in this Texas heat. They have been through at least one hurricane with 90 mile winds and are fine. Never in my life would I have thought we would a hurricane come through here. |

Location: the land of dust & sticks | We have a 40x60ft. We bought the prefab “pole barn” kit for the roof and then built the rest ourselves. I would suggest if you go this route to have someone put the trusses up and tin on, otherwise everything went real smooth |

| It depends on how handy you are and how much your neighbors like you.
We built ours ourselves. The original 24x40 was moved down the road from his mom and dads. It now has 2 lean toβs and a shop with a lean to. Last summer we put up our shop and 3 others in the neighborhood with the help of each neighbor who had one going up. For that I love our little community, we all pitch in to help when needed. |

Location: Slipping down the slope of old age. Boo hoo. | Regardless of the type of barn -- or barn budget - find some money for the foundation....i.e., be sure to haul in some dirt and build up your barn site prior to construction -- and understand how and where the site drains. And... gutters are not that expensive and very helpful to move water away from your barn. Worth the effort/price, too. |

| I just had a 3-sided lean-to brought in and anchored. It is 12 X 24, colored tin and wood-lined on a pole frame. Built, delivered to the house and anchored it was $3540.
Here's the company I used and they do go to OK.

I priced a "kit" from a local lumberyard and it was going to be $1900 for a 12 X 20 but I decided I didn't want to spend every weekend for the next month building it.

VERY good advice. |

Location: North Dakota | We built a barn a year ago and hired EVERYTHING out, with the exception of building the feed room and tack room, and putting up the stalls; hubby and I did that work ourselves. |
