Good to know. I had one done a year ago and then was checked again the following year while doing some other maintenance and she wasn't needing it. I dont go to an actual equine dentist like someone mentioned above. I think I would have to drive hours? And would if I had to, but we have a good relationship with our vets at our local rural clinic. We raise cattle also. There is 6 and one specialized in horses so feel I can trust her expertise.

Peewee212 - 2018-06-02 3:59 PM How often does everyone get their horses teeth floated? I have never done it on a yearly basis like I would everything else. Never had our vet tell me to bring them in once a year?!

I have my guy on a yearly wellness plan that I pre pay for services through my vet. Services are discounted if you pay in full at the beginning of the year. I think this year I paid about $480 for the entire year plus tax. The vet comes to me and we follow a schedule they have lined out as far as "basic" Maint goes. (Teeth, lameness exam, coggins, health cert, sheath cleaning, fecal test, nutrtitional consult, worming, vaccines, etc.)  Vet checks teeth when he comes out for annuals and I have two complete dentals (basic dental and a power float)  pre paid that year in case my gelding needs them. Best decision I've made was to buy a pre paid plan with my vet for basic care. I didn't always have the money up front when Annuals were due and now it doesn't matter since I pay everything at once during tax season for that year. Frees up my money for "Extra" Care such as Chiro, massage, aquatread sessions, special shoes instead of going barefoot lol, and many other things that I used to could not do for my boy.

Ours have always gotten done once a year. I have them on a schedule and they’re spread. Two always get done in March and the other two always get done in October. Gives my wallet enough time to recover lol
