I recently had my horse magnawaved. He showed a very significant response in the hip/loin area. Though I see a lot of opinions on the value of the therapy, does anyone trust it to help diagnose a problem area?

I have one and use it a lot. It can be helpful to pin point areas of trouble for sure. I know on my own I can tell if they are having issues when I go over them by how they react not only in muscle movement because that can depend on who is running machine and how high they have it, but watching face, eyes and ears. I recently took my mare to the vet for a go over and she showed some soreness in a hock so went home and magnawaved her and she was sore in the hock for treatment. I also used it on a horse who was in a trailer loading accident and could not walk, vet came and checked her after I treated and we both found the same area of pain, he x rayed and found a fractured vertebrae . We had her standing and walking again in 4 days. So now that I have rambled yes it can help diagnose be sure the operater is working at a reasonable level because they will all have significant muscle movement if turned up high.

I have not gone to the vet once in 3 years since I've had my Magna Wave machine.

I just crank that bad boy up and walk down the middle aisle of the barn, everyone, cured.

Did a mangawave secession on my gelding once. he was jumpy and "showing soreness" in the right hip, loin and both hamstrings. Went to OE and vetted him out. he was very hock sore and left hind foot sore.
Nothing showed up in his back, sacrum or stifles.
So soreness obviously does work it's way up.
I looked at it more it as a deep message.
Not a cure for anything or a sign of a horse hurting in the area that is reacting to the pulses.

That’s what I was looking for. Thank you. I’m getting him vetted but wanted to know if the info I got from the magnawave indicated the area of concern. He has had stifle injections in the past so that is my suspicion and the magnawave said something similar.  Let’s see what the vet sees.

FDA has not approved the PEMF, concerns of these waves penetrating through the body at what voltages is a big concern. I believe there should be warning posts when this machine is in use for people who are pregant or those who have any heart conditions or for your own personal safety. People now have to go outdoors from a public facility to smoke for the concern of others health. You would have to be a Physicist to operate it. Heres an example of what is said about the "Mechanism of the PEMF machines"- these machines remain unclear, a modification of signaling pathways, such as the extra cellar signal regulated kinase pathway or phosphatidylinositol-4,5-bisphosphate3-kinase/Akt signaling pathway. Park et al. assumed that the PEMF induced activation of NADH oxide. Cells are very important within our body because they are responsible for homeostasis, regeneration, aging, & so forth. However, this type of energy is not yet sufficiently proven & more studies need to be concluded. Now, that being said, the people who are Practioners ( short course on how to run this machine from the manufacture & given this title) do they know & can they tell you with certainty that you or your horse is absolutely without a doubt safe in the amounts of voltage penetrationing your skin, muscle, & organs or being within inches or feet of this are not being harmed? Can they tell you when asked, what are the legal minimal amounts of voltage permitted. This is about safety & we all have a right to protect ourselves. When in doubt, please read what all the health organizations protocol on these PEMF devices & then decide.

THIS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ^^^^^^^^

That is why I am a big fan of microcurrent. Low voltage and amperage. Closer to the current that the cells in the body produce naturally.
I personally like the Acuscope because it is microcurrent. It also has a biofeedback loop that interacts with the patient and adjusts during treatment so you cannot over treat. Plus it is FDA approved.
