1 horse eats it, 1 has gone to not eating her alfalfa cubes at all. What can it’s a comparable product at a comparable price?

cut back to half and see if the horse eats it. or you can add apple sauce to if your horse likes apples. some horses just have a good nose, if it smells different they wont touch it. I have a 4 year old that wants to be picky, but she is not likeing the other horses eating her grain so she is staying with it.

I just started my gelding on it Sunday, he eats it right up. I also put 1 pump of DAC oil on it in the AM, maybe that would help entice her to eat it.

Thank you guys. My gelding gobbles it up not knowing anything has changed. At first she was eating around it and then by the next feeding it would be gone, then she would eat around it and leave it. Now she just plain refuses to eat the alfalfa cubes.

What a turd. My colt did the same thing when I started him on the MVP Mare N Foal which I throw in his Renew Gold. It took him 2 days to clean it up but he quickly realized he wasnt getting any more RG until his bucket was clean. Sounds kinda mean typed up but my horses are very well fed, I promise lol.
Maybe try putting it in something else other than the alfalfa cubes for a few days just to get him use to the taste! My gelding that gets the 6 way is a fatty and will eat it out of my hand.

Both my horses refused exceed 6 way!! Company refunded my money. They like other formulas from there but exceed was a no go. So much so one horse pawed the bucket off the fence when he smelled it. They will lick regular platinum performance off my hands.

I looked at platinum and I can’t do the $$$. To get the joint, guy etc that MVP offers the price is insane.

Maybe try the DAC oil, I just started using it Sunday, and it really does smell like butterscotch! Maybe if you put a squirt or two in with the 6-way the oil will coat it..I've seen Cocosoya and Healthy Coat at TSC, but not sure what it smells like, if it would be enticing to them. It's no fun having a picky eater, for sure!

What size and dosage are you looking at for Platinum? We feed the regular equine formula at a rate of 1 scoop/day for about $.86 if you aren’t feeding enough to utilize their bulk program (which we do and it costs about $.65/scoop then). This has been more than enough for ours. I’m experimenting with bumping my open horse up to 2 scoops/day - even then, very affordable. I can’t see feeding one more than 2 scoops/day based on the results we’ve seen.

My personal opinion is feed throughs have limited joint health improvements, but even if you wanted to use the Platinum CJ I still show it as basically the same price as MVP if you just take the price of the equivalent sizes and divide by estimated servings...

I used Exceed 6 way for a while and couldn’t get the one I had to eat it consistently. Also tried several of the pelleted daily oxygen supplements. Haven’t had trouble getting one to eat Platinum and it’s the ONLY supplement I’ve fed where horses I thought looked good absolutely bloomed.

The regular Platinum actually has almost no joint support, not even close to comparable to Exceed and even the CJ formula doesn't come close to the Exceed. The CJ formula is also $147 for a 29 day supply if fed at the suggested dosage, so significantly more expensive than MVP and still doesn't offer as much as the Exceed does. I suggest just trying something to get her to eat it. My 4 year old ate around it for about the first week and then realized it wasn't so bad. She eats it just fine now. Some horses don't like it, some just have to realize it doesn't taste as bad as it may smell. Try maybe just putting some applesauce on it for a couple feedings, she may eat it and realize its fine & then you can stop with the applesauce. Oil may also work

Mine wouldn't touch it either. I always start with half dose to try to adjust them to the smell and taste of a product. We never got past that. Tried Apple Sauce, Healthy Coat, etc. 2 weeks, just would flip they feed pan and then try to eat what might not have any of it on the feed. Finally waved the white flag.

So I stopped the MVP for a few days and waited for her to go back to finishing her food like normal. I let her eat her food (alfalfa cubes with 1/2 scoop feed-slowly reintroducing feed to her post ulcer tx) for a few days plain. Today I offered MVP to her from my hand. She ate 1/2 the scoop and then refused the rest.

I ended up putting the other 1/2 scoop in her food. I’m hoping that if it mixed with feed and not just alfalfa she won’t notice it as much.

Also set out a few scoops of it to let it air out and try to get the strong smell to calm down and will offer it each time I feed her for a few days (I can’t afford for her to go off her feed again- she is thin [new horse])
