I am beginning the stallion search for next year. I have a daughter of Judge Cash who is out of a daughter of Cash Not Credit that is a proven producer. My mare hasn't been started due to an injury when she was a 3 year old. My budget is less than 2000.

Any input on Prime Talent? I am really liking the looks of his offspring in the Copper Springs Ranch catalog.
I have a couple of others in mind but am looking for input.

Prime talent: have any done anything or are you going to pay them to prove their stallion?

I’d breed to something more proven but in this market you are probably going to be over $2000

I recently picked up a famous bugs and she is super in most every way. I do reccomend him as a sire.

Are you wanting to stick with running bred quarter horses or would you consider cow bred or cutting horse stallions?

As much as CSR hypes their stallions and their incentive programs, I’ve only heard of a handful of PT’s foals lighting it up in the barrels in Montana. Out of 13 foal crops, his progeny have only earned roughly $1.6M on the track. I agree with whiteboy, you may be able to find a stud that’s a little more proven in your price range, but if you like him and he will complement your mare, then go for it!

What’s your goal with the foal, to keep it and run yourself or to sell? You could always make a decision after their big sale and see how much his babies sell for.

A couple of my friends have been breeding to A Sharp Frenchman the last few years, the babies are super. The oldest one is 2 and man is he nice looking and crazy smart. The Sharps Bay/A Sharp Leo horses are a huge hit where I'm at, everyone wants one. My friends Curt & Polly Hagey cross a lot of them on their Miss N Cash son, Peggys Gay Cash and they've had multiple 1D horses come out of that combo. They have a stud that's a son of Sharps Bay, I'm Razr Sharp that would be a good cross I think and probably in your budget. I think A Sharp Frenchman is still under $2,000 and they market really well if you wanted to sell in the future. I have a daughter of Six Moons Bully that I like a lot, but I wouldn't really say he's proven. I think she's great & going to be special when she's running, but that's just me. He's had a couple that have done fairly well for limited campaigning, most have fallen off the radar lately. Idk, just some ideas

I know that Cowans are real high on the Judge Cash on Sun Frost daughters---might try reversing that and go with a Sun Frost son.

The foal would most likely be for sale. The mare has a half brother by Ima Firefighter that has done well so I am keeping him in mind for her I know his stud fee is higher than my budget).  I am just starting to look. There are so many stallions out there that are really nice. I know nothing about Prime Talent is why I was asking but they LOOK nice in the sale catalog.
I may wait for the stallion auctions and see what I can get as well. Just trying to do a little planning ahead.
We have a cowbred stallion that I can breed her to, but I am really looking for something more barrel bred.
