Gurgling Noise

Last night I was saddling my horse to go for a ride and noticed her making gurgling sounds. Like she was trying to swallow but was having a hard time. We started out walking and she coughed a few times and brought up some clear mucus. Thought I would see what trotting would do, she was fine and fine at a lope. I never heard the gurgling noise after the few times she coughed.
Just wondering what this may be, she has never done this before.

If it continues I would get her scoped, could be she has a cold or allergies, could be something more serious. 2 of mine did that and it turned out to be a very serious throat condition that causes scarring on the larynx that if not controlled can restrict breathing to the point of needing a trachea.

I have an appointment with the vet Thursday. Just seems so weird that this came out of the blue.

Hopefully it's nothing. Maybe she had something stuck and your ride helped her cough it out. But good thing the vet is coming, just in case.
