| Hi all! I have a person interested in buying my horse but he's in North Carolina and would like to arrange shipping for her.
My question is what all is required to ship a horse and how does it work? He has his own shipping company lined up but I've never done it so I want to make sure I'm doing right by my horse.
Any info much appreciated ?? |

| He did yes! Though I'm not quite sure it's enough my asking price is $5,500 he offered to pay $6,000 to cover shipping cost. I thought they'd be more than that. |

The only time you ship a horse is if you are paid in full before hand and the buyer pays the shipper before hand.

| He wanted to pay through PayPal before hand and include the $500 that he wants me to pay through money gram to his carrier. which was like a huge red flag to me. But hey I figured I'd see how the shipping of a horse worked before I jumped to conclusions. I've had a gut feeling of don't do it which is why I'm on this forum in the first place!
Anyways your knowledge or shipping a horse is still welcome! I'd love to learn the process for the future. |

Well shipping sure is going to be more then 500.00 lol. Alot of times these scammers say they will pay you way more then what your asking and say sending you a check for x amount and then they want you to send them back the money lefted over that was in the x amount payed to you, but of course their money order or check is a fake, so watch what and who you are dealing with. I would get these emails all the time when selling a saddle, I just didnt respond back... |

| Shipping is about $1 / mile. Buyer usually aranges it. Seller usually gets the cogins and health certificate. Seller doesn't allow the horse to leave until s/he has cleared funds. The shipper loads the horse and delivers to a specified place. Buyer tells the shipper "Thank you". |

| Insist they show proof of DOT licensing, CDL licensing, they are BONDED in case of injury or an accident. And they haul your horse in the horse transportation trailer advertised on their website! |
