So I got this nice little pony a little over a week ago for the kids. Have a gelding that keeps picking on him, we left him the round pen next to the pasture the first 2 nights and I watch them during the day, he was still getting picked on alittle but he minds his own business. They ran him through the electric fence one day this week so we locked the gelding that's causing problems up for the night and then put him back in the next day. We left them over night last 2 nights. We loaded up and headed to a rodeo last night, got home about midnight and this morning I could find him anywhere.....ive looked all morning.
Im so upset about it too, hoping hes going to come home?

Poor fella, if I were getting picked on the way he was I sure would not come back..
Have you called the Sheriff dept. to let them know about the pony and I would call animal control, but alot of times the animal control is conneted with the Sheriff's dept. so I would let them know to be on the look out for this pony.

Well the people we got him from had him running with bucking horses, I watched him hold his own. Wish I would have went with my instinct and locked him up before we left. We went around the hot wire and no where is it down. My husband thinks somebody ran off with him, but I don't. We haven't let the SO know but have called the neighbors, when he got out the other day, he didn't go far is the only reason im really concerned.

well,he IS your responsibility,so you need to let the sheriff know he's missing, along with getting out and looking for him.If he causes a car accident or someone hits him and gets hurt or killed,it's gonna be on you.ponies don't need to destroy a fence to get through it,most of the time you don't know where they got out.

One of our horses got out of the round pen during the flood in '16, swam to the pasture where the other horses were, and literally climbed thru the hot wire to get back to them. We like to have never figured out how he got in til we followed his hoof prints around the whole place and found where they ended on outside and started on inside!

Prayers you find your little guy

Electric fence is pretty iffy as far as holding horses.  Tried that once......didn't work.
You need to patrol the roads and talk to neighbors.  Many times people have captured loose horses but don't know how to find the owner.

Sorry for the late update. We found him that same evening, right under our noses, but out of eyesite (thanks Blc for the prayers). He was across the road in the creek, where I drove by several times that day, I even loaded my 1 yr old and 10 month old up in the ranger and drove it where I felt safe. My husband went out alittle before dark after knowing I spent most of the day in and out with the kids and seeing how upset I was and finally drove the creek where I wouldnt and there he be. He said my folks had been over looking for him too. So babying him now until I decide how to rearrange things.
Thank you to all who were concerned and for your prayers, feeling thankful.
This seems pretty minor compared to what our community went through today, thanking God for each day.

Both expected to recover completely, physically. One was released yesterday, the other was under going surgery in Salina Ks, but stable.
I know some of you are from small towns, the kind of small towns you think nothing like this could happen or wont happen. Mankato was one of those small towns.

I looked it up and read the story also. Thankfully, he didn't do anything to his wife and kids too. Very sad story. I went to Cloud Co. Comm College, so I am a bit familiar with that area close to Mankato.
