| ETA: If you're not going to follow the link, please don't respond. This trailer is ALREADY a toy hauler AND a horse trailer. To be more specific in my question, I'm wondering how difficult it would be to convert the back toy hauler part so that it will haul more than the two horses it's already built for.
I'm looking at a trailer very similar to this one: (Should have said, the trailer I'm looking at is IDENTICAL to this one, but $10k cheaper.)
https://horsetrailerworld.com/home/trailerdetail.asp?ID=1262153
Wondering if anyone knew how hard it would be to convert the back so it can haul horses too? Couple of drop down windows on the far wall is what I was thinking, maybe a walk through door from the other horse area so you don't have to put down the ramp every time?
Anyone know someone who would even do this?
Thanks in advance

| A toy hauler is not made to the same specs as a horse trailer. I wouldn't even consider it.
The trailer pictured was a horse trailer first. They took a 4/5 horse, took out some stalls and put a 4 wheeler in the back, simple as that. |

Same. Wouldn't even consider doing a conversion from a toy hauler to a horse trailer. A Horse trailer to a toy hauler is something completely different. |

Location: Under The Big Sky Of Texas | Converting a toy hauler into a horse trailer no way, converting a horse trailer into a toy hauler yes. The toy hauler is not build the same as a horse trailer, the toy hauler are built light a horse trailer is more heavy duty bulit for the safety of the horse, the horse trailer will have heavery axles and better flooring and balance. The walls in a toy trailer are thiner then a horse trailer. There would be no way I would put my horse in a toy hauler. There is no comparison between the two.

Location: Oklahoma | Please don't..... This trailer was made with framing/flooring/etc. all based on certain engineering specs. It's not as simple as you think to just cut and add a window here or there.

       Location: Oklahoma | Also,
C&C trailers are no longer in business. So to get factory parts will not be possible. When you add a door on that wall between the cargo compartment and the other stalls you are risking the structural integrity of the trailer. |

| Basically same response as everyone else after crawling under my toyhauler and seeing that its made from small amounts of metal, 2x4's and plywood. They are not built good enough for my horses to be loaded into. You would be better off buying a horse trailer; pull the dividers out, collapse the rear tack and using it as a toyhauler. |

TwistedK knows her trailers and I would agree with her opinion of the project. |

Location: Under The Big Sky Of Texas | The trailer in pictures is a custom built trailer that is/was built for horses and added the toy hauler to, not a toy hauler that had the horse area added too, you can tell the difference between just a toy hauler and this trailer, put a toy hauler trailer and a horse along side one another and compare the two, you will see the difference in the two, no way would I try to convert a toy hauler into a horse trailer, I know the difference my husband had wired a few toy trailers for some people that buy them and need them wired for their trucks, they are flimsy and light weight.. The trailer in your link was a special made trailer and the price of 29,500 is a good deal I think and I bet you can get the price down a little too, if I were looking for a toy trailer and a horse trailer in one I sure would be looking hard at this one. And the toy haulers will crumble in a accident, I have seem a few that were hit from behind, they were a total loss.. |

Thank you for reading the whole thing!
Yes, I agree. No way in he** I'd convert a toy hauler to a horse trailer. I just want to know how expensive it would be to convert this one, being it's already built for horses, just need the windows and a door! The trailer I'm looking at is THIS trailer to a T, C&C must have made two of them as I found the other one for $17,000. I thought it was a scam until I found the outlets were in slightly different places. My budget is $21,000 so I'm wondering if I can get the windows and a door done for around $4k and then I'd have my dream trailer. |

Location: Not Where I Want to Be | that trailer could be converted. But I don't think you are going to do it for the $4k that you have in your budget.
by the time you add a few windows/drops and doors, then have the carpet removed and rubber put in even if you don't add slants you are still more than likely going to be more than $4k |

| Personally, I would not attempt it. You are talking a lot of cutting thru aluminum or replacing whole sheets of it to get your windows in, aluminum welding (expensive) to attach dividers, all of that might require the interior to be taken down to the frame and who know what else would be involved. I'm guessing it would be costly, enough so that you could find a trailer that is horse ready. Keep looking. |

Here in Seguin Texas we have a trailer sales that does trailer repairs and replacement windows, doors, floors. They are a really big place maybe give them a call and asked them to give their opinon about converting this toy hauler or maybe they can point you in the right direction of someone that can help you.. Here's the number D&D Trailers 830 379 7340..And see if they can help you out, good luck... I wanted to say I really like that trailer that you showed us, really a cool one.. |

Location: North Dakota | So, if the trailer you're looking at is just like the one in the link, I would compare the floor (and supports)in the horse area to the floor in the garage area-if they are the same-cut the windows (or maybe even slats so it looks like a stock) and be on your merry way......toy hauler campers-no way, but this trailer looks custom built as a horse trailer and they decided the toy hauler should be in the back-floor looks the same as a horse trailer to me. It's 8' wide so making the back into a stock would make it roomy. |

Location: Oklahoma | Please see what I said above. When custom trailers are designed everything is taken into consideration. They look at potential weight distribution, axle placement, etc. You cannot simply cut holes for windows and doors without compromising the structural integrity of a trailer. |

Are you trying to put more slants in? I'm sure the slant panels are simply removed and to put more horses in, you'd just have to re-install them. If they don't have them to sell with the trailer, you'd have to order them from trailer company.
Obviously putting more horses in reduces your space to haul stuff. Depending on if they put a wall in between the horses and the 4-wheeler (or whatever) you would have to remove/move it to provide space for the horse. |
