Starting to get back to running again. I have a bleeder and hate using Lasix. Is there any other PROVEN options? I feel like it just can't be good for them?? Thanks so much for any input

If you have a true bleeder your only safe and preventative option is Lasix. Why do you hate using it? As long as you follow with a good electrolyte a couple days after giving it there is relatively very little risk. You are harming your horse more by choosing to not use it.

I found out that I have a bleeder this year......I ran him on Lasix and also started him on Race Today. I loaded him for 4 weeks and then ran him without Lasix.....It worked....I have ran him for 3 weekends and no Lasix and he has not bleed and has kept very calm. I will continue feeding the Race Today!

how do you know for sure he is not bleeding? Have you had him scoped after a run since you took him off lasix?

Love Equipulim! I have a horse that refuses to drink any water what so ever before he runs and will only drink a little bit right after when hauled even when given electrolytes and water from home. I have even had him colic from dehydration so long story short I cant use lasix. Now lasix is the best and cheapest product out there for bleeders. Many of my friends run their horses on it even if they have never bled before just as a preventive: but in certain cases its just not an option. I have had great results with Equipulim no bleeding and all allergy issues completely taken care of not to mention my horse loves it!

I have a bleeder who has never actually noticeably bled out of his nose nor did he ever even cough or sneeze. I actually found out after he bounced his face off the trailer and his nose bled, so he was checked for damage from that. Scope revealed evidence of bleeding. He ran fine on 2cc of lasix and I added EquiPulmin for his roaring. Roaring is most likely the cause of the bleeding issue. EquiPulmin has helped him not sound like a freight train and if given religiously as directed and he's kept in super condition, he doesn't need lasix. I however don't have the time to ride him 1-2 hours a day or the bank account to handle that much EquiPulmin. So back to lasix we went. Lasix is easy and super cheap and can be given all 3 ways. I'd just go ahead and do lasix.
