I am trying to get in the barrel game. I am an experienced rider but this is my first time really wanting to go and pursue my dream...

I am looking at an own son of Mr Illuminator . 8 Year old Gelding . I have been sent many videos shes saying hes 2/3 D right now, but i can tell that he doesn't really looking like shes pushing him that hard just cruising through the pattern. I asked for stats to prove where he is...nothing yet. he was priced at 10,000 but now is 8500.....should that be a red flag?

What are some good and bad things about Mr Illuminator bred horses ???

I am in Missouri and the horse is in Montana .. far away and should i wait for her to respond back?

This is really important to me and want to eventually Rodeo but what kind of prospect should i be looking for i have a budget of $ 15,000 will i be able to get a horse that is competitive at that price range ....

Biggest fear is not picking the right horse....

I will take any feedback. Thanks

If you have $15K to put in you should be able to find a tru blu 2D horse (big shows, 400+ entries). And you should be able to find one much closer than Montana.  Heck, there have been a lot lot lot of horses advertised on BHW recently for that or under that were verifiable 2Ders! Or you could buy a really really nice 2-3yo and move forward with training for it. Or you could find an older  sometimes 1D horse with some maintenance required for $15K.

Spending that kind of money you will want to meet and ride the horse, imo. There should be a handful available in MO or surrounding states that fit your dollar criteria.

Have you barrel raced in the past ??? Jumping right on a LEGIT 2D horse can be a little overwhelming.

They are good, strong, aggressive horses that are fast. Because of this they are not for the faint of heart (at least the one's I've seen). They can shut the clock off that's for sure. I personally like the Firewater Flit bred horses. Especially if your looking for something user friendly.
