Location: Tulsa, Ok | I am 100% embarrassed for my town and disappointed in the administrators and sponsors from our local school system. Yesterday our small town had a Veterans Day Parade. Not one team, group or individual from the high school participated. The band was scheduled to march but they cancelled because it was "too cold" (hovering at about 28 degrees and dry) Funny to me that the cub scouts along with parents and younger siblings walked the entire route and then went to the local American Legion to help serve a lunch for vets and families. My 98 year old mother, WWII vet, was the parade marshal. She rode in a convertible and didn't complain about the weather. |

They absolutely don't make them like they use to, do they? My grandmother welded on the battleships all those years ago, and I still take pride in that (as one of her many many accomplishments I'm proud of). Their generation is so unbelievably different than most of the young people today; Lord knows some can't go to work at McDonald's if they get a hang nail. . . .
Please tell your momma thank you for her service; what stories I bet that tough lady could share. |

Location: Windoming | Every year I post a picture of my dad in his uniform for Veteran's Day on FB. He served in WWII. Later I thought about my brother, who was in the Air Force, but never saw any war action. In my mind, he was not a veteran because he didn't go to war. But I went back and edited my post to add my brother, feeling foolish that I never even gave his service a thought. |

Location: Ky | We went to our local Veteran's Day parade yesterday. They say it's the largest in Ky. But I figure every that has one says that.
It is a large parade though. About an hour and half to take it all in.
One float had on it, "We stand for the flag, we kneel for prayer!"
I though that was awesome! |
