To All My Minnesota Contestants,
I am writing you today with unfortunate news. I was in a horse accident Saturday night. As I was leading young horses across a pasture on foot, and we were ambushed by another loose horse. It knocked me down and I was stepped on causing broken ribs and a collapsed right lung. I was also kicked in the head, but so fortunate to only ended up with a large gash, which is now all stapled up, and no permanent damage. I am very lucky and thankful to have sustained injuries that will heal. However, it saddens me to inform all of you I will not be able to make the trip or attend my youth race in Verndale.
I have the utmost confidence in Ron, Judy, Sara, Christine and their entire crew and my crew. I know you all will have fantastic weekend. I wish all of you lots of love, encouragement and the very best of luck.
Be kind to your fellow racers, take care of your horses and say Thank You to the adults who are bringing you to this race. Life does not always go exactly as planned, but we have to make the most of every opportunity.
