Ive never done this before- but can anyone tell me what your sticks and stones or jet of honor horses are like? I have a young gelding who is out of a dtr of JOH and by a sticks and stones son, I have owned him for years now and still feel like he speaks a different language than anything else I have. What type of training style or regimen worked best for your horse, what quirks did they have etc? Just trying to establish if there are some tendencies that go with one of these bloodlines that I am misinterpreting and could become more knowledgable on, or if maybe his wires are just crossed. Thank you.

I rode a JOH topside/Top Moon bottom for a while. Wicked fast, quickest left handed turns I've ever experienced. Her first barrel was a hit or miss, just when she felt like it. Pretty flighty. She took to barrels very quickly. In a matter of a few weeks she went from 3D to 1D consistently. She had pretty bad anxiety when we hauled somewhere big for quite sometime. The older she got, the better she got. With her, you just kinda had to go with the flow. I didn't train her so I cant speak for that, but the faster she got the hotter she got. Never bad, was just ready to do her job.

I have a son of JOH and I breed mares with different pedigrees. Some FWF, Biankus, FG, Brookstone Bay, Judge Cash, Peppy San Badger. The general rule is they are smart, honest, willing, confident, sound, talented and not broncy. But there have been a few outliers that have their own way of doing things or they are opinionated. One gelding I raised was pretty broncy. But he seems to be over that now and is on the path to being a nice horse. Most of them don't need to be broke by a professional. Anybody with an idea what they want, can break them and start them, themselves. Some are downright kids horses from the start. Others have some sting to them. They all seem to want to turn.
