Had my mares hocks done recently, but she's still not getting in the ground 100%, not completing turns 100%, and generally seems to want to run uncontrolled...its been 2 years since I had her stifles done. I guess I don't really know what the problem looks like when stifles need doing...I'm calling Outlaw Equine for an appointment, but wondered what y'all had to say...thank you!

my gelding gets sore in his stifles. Injections last only 4 months... X rays show just slight arthritis... I'm going to try IRAP instead this spring. I don't want to keep injecting them that often with a steroid. I know he needs to be done when he starts getting over bendy and sometimes doesn't finish the turn.

If it is a lameness issue, and she responded to the stifle joint injections, those suckers are way worn off in two years.

They'll do just what you explained. They won't get in the ground to turn, they'll float off the turn, and mine liked to run off and get stiff, as well as pop leads. I had to inject him about every 90-120 days during the competitive season. He became a big, beautiful, pasture ornament at age 10, due to a collapsed stifle; vet and I both think he was born with weak stifles.
I think your doing the right thing by going to the vet. Hope it all turns out OK for you.

Or..... are the mare's hocks still bothering her? Just because they were injected, doesn't mean she feels 100%.

What is wrong with her hocks? (fusing? fluid? arthritis?)     For example, when my boy Red's right hock was fusing, injections did help him but it didn't help him 100% so we "supplemented" with Previcox.

Doesn't mean that her stifles can't be bothering her too, but don't rule out the hocks just because they have already been injected.
