Today is
stalls with runs would be a huge deal for me bc of bad weather they can get in somewhere but if nice they can move and get outside At home they are turned out 24/7 So if I stay anywhere I always bring my electric fence. But during the BBR or Something like that be nice to have a place to put them in with a turnout.
Depends on the event center and depends on the other facility.
At a larger event where the stalls are on concrete and the barns never really “shut down” - people always coming and going, etc I’d be inclined to stay off property where my horse is likely to rest better, especially if the setup has some turnout or even just a larger outdoor pen where I might be able to put multiple horses.
edited to add - would also depend on the cost of the other facility and what I would have to pay in ridiculous “jump out” fees to trailer into the event each day. I’ve seen them where if you add up the cost of the daily jump out fee, you basically bought a stall for the weekend.
I don't get to travel much at all but when I did get to go to Pendleton for the 4th of July race the thing I looked for was a place I could stay and keep the horses right there with me in out side pens. Mine are not used to being in stalls and I didn't want them in stalls after a 12 hour drive to boot. I do not have a LQ trailer either so my first priortiy was the place to stay with outdoor pens/runs and then ability to stay right next to them and either dry camp or apartment to rent with the pens and I didn't really care how far I had to haul back to the venue to have those 2 things.
