I liked mine when I was on the road for lengthy trips.  My truck is a flatbed so I don't usually load hay there unless a couple of bales (short trip).  Best way to load onto a roof rack is with a tractor.  I would use a pallet on my hay forks, stack hay on pallet then raise up and unload....easier with two as then you can have someone on the tractor.  Without the tractor I don't try to load on top.

We have one.  We have our water tank up there and occasionally the roping dummy, which is lighter and someone can hand it up or you can pull it with a rope.

We don’t usually have a full trailer on trips that require us to take bales so we haven’t had put hay up there.

Would for sure use the tractor or skid loader to get it up there.

Have one that came with trailer when we bought it used. Used it when we moved states to put things like ladders and bicycles up there. (put hay in the 1st slant as its a 4 horse and we had 2 horses at the time)  Dont really go that far race wise to worry about putting hay up there currently. A tractor would definately be needed though

I don’t like having to climb up to the top.

I have one on my trailer. It has my water tank up there which is awesome but I have never used it for anything else. Climbing the vertical ladder is sketchy and I've been known to hurt myself on flat ground.

We haul hay and bedding in our hay rack when we are going to be gone long enough to need several bales and lots of bedding.  We use the front end loader on the tractor to load.

A friend of mine added one to hers. Overall she liked having one but it reduced her mpg's.

We have one that we haul hay and bags of shavings on. It’s convenient when we need it. But I do prefer just throwing hay in the truck. However, if we’re going for a long weekend, the bed of the truck is usually full.

We just haul to the feed store and have them load the hay with their tractor. I guess we could use our tractor... never really thought about it.

The trailer I bought came with an enclosed hay pod and I absolutely love it.  I will never own another trailer without one.  I fill the pod full using a tractor, my husband lifts the bales up to me.  When I travel, if my trailer is not full, I will put bales in the first stall or pickup bed.  But its always nice to know I have an emergency stash if I run out or a friend needs a bale or two to get by.   For longer hauls, it frees up so much space for other items.
