I have been researching like crazy on past posts on BHW(like I think I am on page 200) and I noticed with all of the calming threads, the main things to pop up were Magnesium and B1 crumbles. Now I am wondering what the best way to get magnesium is AKA what is the best and cheapest(under $30 per month) supplement for magnesium is. Also, other then the crumbles, is there anyway else to get B1? TIA

PS. Sorrry for my rambling, I spend too much time reading thinking about theses things

Well it may be too soon to say but I've been administering Magnesium citrate from Animal Element for the last week. 75 servings is running me $18.00 off of Amazon. Free shipping with prime. I can say my horse eats it readily without an issue even when I just sprinkle it onto his alfalfa cubes in the evening. It's a bit too soon for me to say it's made a difference but honestly he seems a tad more chill .. hes typically really looky and looks for monsters when we are out of the pen and his favorite spook spot on the far end of the pasture .. last 2 days I've rode him by it and hes definitely less reactive... still a little watchy but not like hes been in the past. So maybe it's working or maybe hes just having a good week, who knows! Lol! I'll definitely give it a few months .. I'm still on the loading dose

Love Magnesium 5,000 by MVP - comes in a pelleted form. It is $38.25 shipped for a 80 day supply. I use it moreso for muscle healthy/recovery on my heavy muscled gelding and am pleased.

I use the Uckele Magnesium Oxide.  I actually don't use the scoop it came with - I use a kitchen tablespoon per horse per day.  Equals about 10G elemental Magnesium per day.

Runs 28.95 for a 10lb bag - I tend to order 3 bags at a time and get free shipping from Big Dee's.  Have ordered from Uckele when I can get a free shipping code or discount.

Also have used

And liked it well too.  It is 10lbs and runs 51.25 per bag - dosing the same.  1 tablespoon per day.

I looked on amazon and was going to buy it with my prime account but it's not offered with free shipping for prime. Darn it.

Im done with the loading dose and I've got to say I'm pretty impressed with it so far. My horse is usually kinda flinchy when you go to brush him in certain spots and always kinda twitched and tensed up when you go to brush his mane.. he did not do that today.. at all.. he was very relaxed in fact.. not going to say it's a miracle supplement but I think its helped him a bit.

MagRestore by Perfomance Equine is by far the best product for your money. It uses magnesium malate which is one of the most easily absorbed and won't react with stomach acids like other forms of magnesium. Plus if your horse is a picky eater like mine, you don't have to feed nearly as much of it like you have to with other mag forms.

I did the loading for 7 days .. now I'm just doing 2 scoops 1x a day. Its such a tiny serving, like about a half a tablespoon. The scoop is included in the bag.
