My horse was just diagnosed with ulcers.  Looking for a good preventative supplement.  Has anyone used Zesterra?  Thoughts and outcomes?

I used Zesterra to treat both fore and hind gut ulcers.  Worked great.  14 days 10ccs twice a day and then 14 days 10ccs once a day.  I’m giving 5ccs daily now.

Gastrogard as a treatment...Research Associates Gastrix, or Finish Line U7 is good as preventive for both front and hindgut ulcers. Succeed is great, especially for hindgut problems.

molassas and orange peels are not going to cure or prevent much of anything except having less money in your wallet

I think Zesterra in combination with a product like Ulcergard is really beneficial in healing ulcers. I've noticed more rapid improvement in those horses that I suspect have ulcers that I treat with Zesterra and Ulcergard vs just Ulcergard alone. And I notice a difference in my horse's poops, especially when I haul, if I don't treat with Zesterra. I think to prevent ulcers it's best to go at it through feeding a healthy gut and I feel Zesterra helps with it.  In my opinion it's a great product and I have it on hand at all times.

I have no answer to the OP's post, but I am currently in the middle of my 14 day initial treatment. I know some say it's amazing and others think it's hoax. I am trying it to see. I am not positive my mare has ulcers, but she went off feed at an event and didn't pick up well once she got home so I decided to give Zesterra a try. I have given her Ulcerguard before and it helped her pick back up eating, but I didn't do a full treatment with it. I'm anxious to read other posts on this thread to see opinions of people who have used it.

I have used it for ulcers. Love it.

I did one tube of ulcergard for 14 days. Half a tube AM, half a tube PM. Along with 10 ml of Zesterra AM and 10 ml Zesteraa PM. Then, for an additional 14 days (28 total) I did 10ml of zesterra a day.

I now use Zesterra before I haul them and before I run my more fractious mare. It has improved everyones eating and drinking on the road tremendously. My mare who typically gets loose stools when hauled stays good and solid now. It helps my coming three year old stay calm and happy when she's hauled along with us. I dont use supplements and certainly dont buy into a lot of the crap out there, but this is good stuff. I take a shot myself when my stomach gets sour from nerves and it helps me.
