 Am I really the Weirdo?

Location: Kansas | We have fed the pellets to 3 different horses now. I personally haven't seen a difference with any of them. 1st horse is a high strung off the track gelding who got 1 teaspoon of the pellets twice a day for 10-14 days during late rodeo season. He was the only horse I had running at the time so was running twice a weekend and traveling probably 6-7 hours per weekend. He's always been hot at the gate and setting up for side gates and truthfully, I saw NO CHANGE while feeding the pellets. 2nd horse is my 17 year old been there done that rodeo gelding. Husband wanted to try the pellets on him in case it would help with the aches & pains of being a 17 year old rodeo horse. We fed 2 teaspoons twice a day for a full week prior to the last Barrel Bash and I still don't think there was a change in him. I paid for a Magna Wave session between his 1st & 2nd runs of the weekend and got a lot more out of that than anything we fed him. 3rd horse is husband's 14 year old gelding who has an attached chip in one knee and husband wanted to feed the pellets in case they helped any soreness in that knee. Horse clocked just outside 3D money all three days of the Barrel Bash - pretty much exactly where he clocked last summer & fall w/out the pellets. I know a lot of people really love the pellets but personally, they haven't shown me any results on these three horses. |

Is that the dose they are recommending? I don't know of any that works with that small of dosage, but I'm not part of that company either. With ours, we recommend 1TB, twice daily to start ... and some are able to taper it down. Both of mine that get our pellets (Hope Botanicals) get the recommended and are doing great on them - definitely have seen great response. I've not tried to taper either down due to their situations. (one is 30 years old & the other is PSSM2). |

I may be wrong, but I think I know what may be the problem. They put a tsp scoop in their containers, yet, the directions are for TBS. I had to message the company when I bought some of their pellets during the sale. So, for that brand, 3 scoops twice a day were needed for my guy. The Hope Botanicals brand packages with a TBS, so one scoop twice a day was needed there. It was confusing. |

Location: Kansas | Maybe it was the wrong dosage in that sample pack last summer. The 1 pound container we bought recently has a lot bigger scoop in it and we've been giving that amount to the 2nd & 3rd horses. The sample packs don't come with a scoop and I could have read it wrong, but I was even giving 2 or 3 teaspoons twice a day and not seeing any changes. I didn't expect miracles because I have tried literally every calming aid on the planet on this horse with no results. |

I am thinking they do tell you to use teaspoons ... but so many do not have any good results from such a small amount. Like many prescription drugs, we suggest starting with the higher dose & then taper off if you can. If you don't see results, an average person is not going to keep using it. |

I was thinking the same thing that the dose was very low. I know when I looked at them it was higher. |

Location: In my own little world | Dosing depends on what you are trying to accomplish wby using CBD. For Plantacea these are the recommendations: Plantacea has pelleted their hemp for ease of give to equines but can also be given to goats, sheep, swine, llamas, rabbits, dogs, and any other animal you would like to benefit from CBD. Our pellets are guaranteed to contain at least 1% CBD or 10mg of CBD per gram of pellets. Because it is the whole plant other cannabinoids are present as well giving your animal a better full spectrum product. These pellets contain 75 mg of CBD in each 7.5 gram serving (2 scoops), which has been found to be an effective amount to give when administered twice daily. These pellets contain No Detectable THC Active Ingredients Cannabidiol (CBD) 1-1.25% Inactive Ingredients Myco Curb, Apple Flavoring DOSING GUIDELINES: General Health: 75mg CBD twice daily has been effective for most average sized horses. Two scoops of pellets contains 75mg CBD. Chronic Pain: 100 to 200 mg/day Anxiety: 50 to 80 mg/day Pre-Race: Give 2 scoops two hours prior to competition. Like humans, every horse is different. Experimentation is the key to finding what works best for your horse. When trying to determine the correct amount of CBD here are two tips: START SMALLWhen beginning CBD it’s best to start with the smallest dose possible and gradually work up. For some conditions you will see immediate improvement, for others, it will take longer. PAY ATTENTION TO WEIGHTThe right dose of CBD varies from person to person and animal to animal. Generally speaking, larger individuals get better results from a higher dose of CBD than smaller individuals. —————————————————————— 75 mg daily works fine for mine as I’m using it to just take the nervous edge off prior to competition. As with any product you may need to experiment with your dosing to find what works best. But as per suggested label directions as you can see it is 75mg twice per day (150 mg daily). I believe at one point they changed the scoops they were providing inside each jar as I have the larger scoop but have recently seen some with a much smaller scoop included. I can’t speak for affects of any other equine cbd products other than Plantacea as that is the only company I have used but I have had great results with both the pellets and tincture. If you look at the research both Plantacea and Hope Botanical equine CBD are both formulated by Dr Robert Silver. Also keep in mind that as with many herbal supplements as well, there are a few companies that make the product and sell not only with their label but package to private labels for their distribution as well. Kind of like Del Monte selling canned green beans and they may also be canning green beans for Kroger brands, Great Value (WalMart)brands etc. |

Location: mi | I am using it on my older gelding with Ring bone. Who has always had a slight hitch on that foot. With the minimum CBD 75mg he is sound. Now he is not in hard work yet. and I am assuming that as I start to work him I will have to up him to the level for chronic pain but for the winter it has done wonders for his hitch. I do have my younger horse on it for anxiety and I can not say if it is helping or if he is growing up. We have not had our first outting yet. I will say my older guy is a bit anxious about everyone moving around the farm and it getting out of routine and the the 75mg daily is NOT doing anything to chill him out. I give it an A for pain an to be determined to a not working for anxiety |
