| Lets talk about routines when your at a show or on the road for a weekend? what extras or therapies do you give or not give? does much change from when your at home? I will say I keep it pretty similar feed wise, but I do up my spoiling since mine are out in a pen or in pasture at home and standing alot more when on the road. I like to spoil them up! | |

| We don’t do anything different. The one splurge is that even if Vegas is in a pen, she always gets a couple of bags of shavings because she ALWAYS lays down in them. We keep electrolyte paste on hand just in case. She also wears air rides, PHT blanket, stifle wraps and quick wraps. That’s about it. Although I am going to start carrying a horse hydrator. For $32, including shipping, why not? It treats 6,000 gallons. | |

Yes a hydrater is a must. We traveled to Arkansas once and my horses absolutely refused the water there. We tried everything to get them to drink and they wouldn't take more than a sip here and there. It was a nightmare plus it was 90+ degrees with 100% humidity! We couldn't do what we came to do because we were scared horses would get sick. I wish I would have had one back then!

Location: Kansas | This will get long as our horses are spoiled rotten! That said, they are 19, 17, 15, 14, and 10 so everyone's got some of that wonderful veteran barrel horse soreness to manage. We haul ours to races in their Hidez travel & recovery suits, and Chance has a neck piece & mask as well. Chance and Cliff wear Soft Ride boots and if the others will be standing a long time on concrete, I put Soft Rides on their fronts as well. We also use Draper Therapy sheets, Back on Track sheets, Back on Track quick wraps, knee wraps (Hawk & Chance only), and hock wraps on everyone. Hawk has a pair of Veredus magnet wraps that Matt often puts on his knees since one has a chip in it. Everyone gets hocks rubbed down with Thermaflex liniment before we saddle to warm up. Matt also rubs it on Hawk's knees and Chance's shoulders to knees because those are typical sore spots for them. We almost always give 8-10 mL of Air Power 30 minutes before we expect them to run, most of the horses get Clearex ointment rubbed in their nostrils, and Chance almost always runs with a Flair strip. After runs, we also rub legs down with Sore No More liniment and on multi-run weekends, we ice legs with Hidez ice socks. Chance is the one we worry about icing the most simply because he's been down the rodeo road for the better part of a decade so we have to pamper him in order to keep him around for our future pee wee in 2021-2025. :) We don't change any feed or hay, and also haul our own water whenever possible.

| Mine are out in a dry lot 24/7 at home, so when stalled I use a good amount of shavings based on dirt or concrete floors, and concrete floors always get mats. Dirt floor is no different than what they have at home, but they are stationary more so 2 bags of shavings at least. Therapy wise I use a PHT sheet and BOT leg wraps - PHT pretty much the whole time and BOT before we run, length of time depends on how hot it is. Prior to the BOT my finished horse would stock up pretty bad when stalled. Even a few hours a day with BOT seems to prevent that. The chiropractor I use is at a lot of the events I go to and also has a magnawave so we’ll do that from time to time. I do a fair amount of massage, especially after a long trailer ride on the poll, neck, and shoulders. I use Oxy Boost and Air Power pre run. Post run I ice legs. I just got Hidez Ice socks so I’m pretty excited to try those this weekend. I’ll ice at home sometimes too just depending on the workout. | |

You will love the ice socks! Take an almost rectagular shaped measuring cup if you can find one and use that to scoop ice into the socks....way easier than any other way I've tried.
