We had to pay over $2000. That was miserable. And I work for a CPA firm too, but I do payroll and financials. The CPA's that file taxes have a party at lunch on the 15th with wine and everything, then they all disappear for about 2 weeks. :D

I've been into the office sporadically since Monday, but I'm planning a REAL vacay soon!!! (I'm a single person office, so I may not get 2 weeks all at once. . . But I'll make up for it over the course of the year!!!)
I have had the same firm do mine since 1982. I got $4400 back. That is what I use to buy my hay with every year.

I am glad it's over as well...
Simply because I was dreading this years filing.
I ended up paying the IRS $574 ...ouch
Like that proverbial bandaid---rip it off and at least it's over! I always hate when my clients owe, makes me sad . Cause I see SUCH abuse during this time of year. . .
Week before last I did payroll checks for 2 Hispanics for our country club. An hour later I got a call from board president--the men were having a fit because I held out taxes--"we are on Visas and don't pay taxes." I wanted to spit I was so mad, but we refunded the taxes and this week I "cheerfully" gave them their checks without those horrible AMERICAN taxes withheld.
Those darn American taxes! It’s almost like they think they should be allowed to live here with all the perks and none of the hassle!
Exhibit number 5694837823 of exactly what is wrong with America today. Why the HECK are people here on a working visa allowed to keep everything they earn but American citizens aren't?!
I was irritated but had to "be nice." They work full time at a chemical/seed/repair place. NOTHING held out and I bet they make very decent money. . . I guess it's over my head, cause I simply don't get it .
Years ago when my husband worked at Boeing he worked on airplane wings alongside a young Vietnamese man. This guy got five years tax-free after he immigrated here and was livid when they started holding out income tax from his paycheck. In my opinion he should have been paying the same tax as everyone else and "more."
Why on earth are immigrants or non citizens with work Visas getting the better end of the deal? What is wrong with us that we allow this garbage? My word.
